My opinion is that they should be allowed to participate AND receive points. I mean let's be real here. It is HO drag racing with a defined set of rules and regulations. Proxy racing, where in good faith we send cars all over the world to participate at facilities of other individuals that we have made friendship with via the internet and for 90% of us never cross each others paths in real life. It is a gentlemen's agreement from conception, why would you not trust the the person that you are entering into the agreement with and willingly sent your car to? The reality is if a competitor has a bullet of a race car at ABC raceway and beats me by 1/4 track, chances are he is going to beat me in my own house as well. The only thing that I could see being of any concern would be multiple races at the same complex racing the same classes. If that was the case the simple rule would be that you could not race the same class at both races.
With the RM ruling does the same apply to regular racers at their raceway? I know this is a cottage hobby with many of us withdrawn to our lair for individual enjoyment, but what about tracks that have their own regular racers? In 09' we had 10 - 16 racers at our track very other Sunday night. When my new facility opens in a couple months and our racer base grows, are my weekly participants now exempt from participating at my proxy race? Let's expand even further. We will be 1.5 hours away from Pikes Peak and Drag City. Say we develop a series and we are all participating at each others tracks. Are we all now exempt from any proxy races that any of us may have? I realize this is a unique situation that we are going to have, but the reality of it is we could easily produce 15-20 active racers.
At the end of the day as a competitor I just want to race. It does not matter to me if you beat me 1500 miles from your place or racing in your basement through your kids Barbie Dream House.

I do no see why the racemaster should not be allowed to compete. He is after all the only reason there is a race to begin with. At least allow him the opportunity to run his cars.

reading back through this thread I realize that most have no issue with the RM racing at their own event in fact, I think I'm the only one that was against it. There were some great points made by a few and it really got me thinking about running against the RM's at their event. I too like going up against the best of the best at their track.Things are different now then when we first started and the NTRA has grown and is more successful now than ever. Time for me to get out of my old way of thinking, Game on!

just a thought based on my experience .... and let me first say, I am in favor of RMs racing at their own events too.
however, care must be taken....... I have personally travelled (which is much different than proxy and a tad more expensive) to many tracks where the track owner (Race Master) won all the races every time. I continued to support such events until there were only a few racers attending.
can YOU guess why folks stopped coming to those events?

I would surely get suspicious if the Race Master won every race every time. It is not hard to guess why they lost entrants to their events.
