You know it's a good day when the FedEx truck pulls up at 10am to drop off your new Maxtrax. The DOG almost burnt up his flip flops getting downstairs to open the box. The quality is what you would expect from Maxtrax, The track had bomb proof packing with tons of foam (some I will use for shutdown padding) it also came with a nice thank you card from Paul & Cheryl at Maxtrax The DOG really appreciates that very nice touch very cool. I also love the slip in retaining wall at the staging area. I built the back lot staging with grooves for the cars guide pins as all these AW cars are loaners for anyone who comes to race. Anyways no wiring or sensors installed yet, but expect a full rundown next week sometime, oh please excuse the mess this area of the basement is Drag strip / bike shop / gun shop. My wife the Kat tries to make me feel guilty about this space, from time to time, but so far I have always found a way to keep the piece. DOG

Great set up Kevin. There has been a lot of positive talk about the Maxtrax in the last few days. Looks like a high quality product at an very affordable price. They even offered to custom build a track to fit a particular space for another racer. It's real hard not to drop the hammer. Thanks for posting and please update your progress. Can't speak for anyone else, but I'm starved to see other builds and projects.

Looks good Kevin. What is the timed length?
Its good to hear that there is an affordable custom track out there. I also hear that another drag strip is going up in California. HO Drag Racing is alive and well!

HO Drag Racing is alive and well! I will have 15'-2" timed, haven't drilled for the sensors yet but that is the plan. That other track should be in CA on Monday

very nice set up. I ended up going with 15'3" like Rick Voegelin's track.
Looking forward to hearing how your track progress is taking place.

Looks good Kevin. What is the timed length? Its good to hear that there is an affordable custom track out there. I also hear that another drag strip is going up in California. HO Drag Racing is alive and well! Just finished installing the sensors and hooking the power to the track. I am using the Trackmate 2000 I already owned, and have a Trackmate 0 to 30 volt @30 amp power supply. The 21' track had a 46" dead space for shutdown. I could have done either a 15'-2" timed (1/87 scale 1/4 mi) or 15'-7.5" timed (1/64 scale 1000') I went for the longer of the 2 for the 1000' strip why not if you have the room. The maxtrax track worked flawlessly and is very smooth no clacking noise between sections. Like my Maxtrax road course I would give Maxtrax Drag strip my highest recommendation for a good looking flawless operating track. One thing to note when drilling the sensor holes it pays to take your time, the track drills easily, so I marked the holes with a sharp pencil and started the hole centered between the rail, & the slot with a 1/16" bit, than followed with the 1/8" trackmate recommends. If you must error do it toward the rail side so you don't drill into the slot itself. GOOD LUCK

Track arrived yesterday 6/17/14. See my other post about the track for more info. Track fit my specs exactly. I installed the photocells drilling 7/64" all the way thru then 1/8" partially from the bottom. This holds the cell in there with no glue.

dave632, what is the dark line on each side of slot on both lanes going down your track? This is a new track right? What size are your power supplies you show in picture. Just trying to help you out a little and find why your cars are so slow. If your Super G+ can't out run cars running 13.8 Volts and your running 20 volts, something is not right.

The track is new, the dark lines are from burnouts, some of the sponge tires leave those marks. My best time on the new track, 15' 2" under power, is .792 which was a regular G+ car. The super G+ cars I have average at least .1 second slower. If that is pathetic the 4 gears I have are real snails. My modified T jets are faster than them running a best on the new track of 1.29, which is days slower than what some of the times for T jets I have read. The output for the transformers is 20v but amperage is unknown. New 10 amp power supply coming soon.
