The electric is a lot faster but the manual one gives me more control. How is yours working?

How do you like it compared to the electric one? I actually just made another one for inline. Some day I'll up my game and get something nice. But for now I wanted to see how they are. Definitely not as fun as pancakes. Very cool!! I'm lovin the hillbilly tools!

Ha ha you got that right Jeff. That stuff laying in the corner better watch out, I'll turn it into something fast lol. The winders are working pretty good. On the pancake winder I did recenter the armature clamp. It wasn't exactly in the middle and made a little wobble, after I did that everything started turning smooth. The inline works and is centered , but those are not easy to wind. Getting between the air gaps and around the comm is not fun trying to get the wire where you want it to lay. Im going to try and make a sleeve to act like the comm. Then try and sneak on the comm after the wire is on. I don't know if this is possible, but if I can pull something like that off it would be a little easier. There's also plastic tabs on the ends of the stacks to protect the wire when you go over the edge. Those look like a nightmare to reuse. I have some insulating varnish/paint I decided to dip the arms in instead of reusing the plastic ends. After I winded the arm I covered the wire with that insulating stuff and added some super glue to help hold the wire in place...

Looks like you are doing a pretty good job. My biggest problem is I do not have the patience to wind these armatures. Let us know how they work out.

I have one of Eagles armatures that will be running in Unlimited at the Spring Nationals and it runs good, I will let all know what car it's in then. I will have some of my own winds in the mix also and will pass on which cars they are in. I also bought one of these manual winders off E bay. Looks like someone made it themselves but works good and they did a nice job of construction. Arm winderDave I bought that same one a few years back. Thought I would give it a try some day ? Never seen one in real life before but like you said this one is built real fine. Some day I’m going to give it a try ? Rick

Thanks for posting it’s very interesting stuff. Rick

I think the Inline armatures are a little more difficult but not that bad. Toughest part by far is getting the windings where you want them to go. What are any of you using to tie the winds to the commutator so that they don't fly off? I have seen silk string with epoxy.

I don't have a go to yet but I'm thinking on the same line as that. I'm trying dental floss and epoxy.
