19 feet 9 inch of 42 awg wire gave me 25ohm even on all three poles.

Just curious about what your goal was with this wind? In-line or pancake?

It's a 25ohm pancake Bill.
I had wound a couple arms in the 5ohm range for a friend to try out. Well he only drives on his road course. He got a hold of me and asked if I could make arms that are slower...I didn't see that coming.
I unwrapped a couple possible original arms slowly to try and get a measurement on length of the wire. I ended up with 20 feet or more of wire on them. I can't get close to 20' feet of 38awg wire on them its to fat,so I knew I was going to try 40 or 42awg. Not wanting to fall short I decided to try 42awg. Looks like I over shot and should have went with 40awg.
I did another pancake, 13' 9" of 42awg. It landed me at 17.3ohm on one pole and 17.4ohm on the other two. It also looks like there's barely any wire on it. I'm thinking 42awg may be good for some double wraps. I may try double wrap of 42 at 12' 9" and see what I get. Definitely ordering some 40awg.

Total resistance should be half that of a comparable single. The original Quadralam was a double. Not sure of wire size. If you need more room for thicker winds, Dash's 2 Lam is pretty thin.

Thanks for that info Bill. I'll try a longer double wrap for the first shot. Trying to find something between 14 and 16ohm out of this 42awg,so it's not wasted wire I got.

Try making your own Christmas Tree arm using red/wht/blue wire and call it the "All American". "Sam's Custom Armatures" at your service.

You have a lot more patience than I do. I once dewound a 16 ohm armature and found it had about 350 turns on each pole.

350 turns around 3/4 inch wrap would get us in the 22' neighborhood. Sounds about right to me. The string of wire I measured was over 20' and I didn't pull it tight ,so ill go with 22. Ordering some 40awg so will see what we get out of it.

Note: I gave up on using the 42awg. I usually never give up, but I'm calling 42 a waste of time.
I'm just not gentle enough to use it. Tried doing some double winds and I keep snapping the wire trying to hold tension and turning. Very aggravating lmaooooo.
Last call was snapping the wire taking it off the spool. Anyone wants to play with 42 I got a roll for you.

12ft of 38 on each pole lands 5.7 neighborhood.
