I would like to make a proposal to the NTRA powers that be. After running the Pro Street X2 build class this year at the Winter Nats, I would like the addition of traction magnets to be considered. At the minimum recommended voltage of 18v and on a sectioned track such as Bear Creek, I experienced several deslots due to lack of downforce (some were due to wheels out of balance). This may not have occurred at one of the continuous rail tracks and another type tire could have been used to allow slippage....I realize these things. But we have other similar builds...such as 4g Pro Mod or even 4g Econo Dragster that allow their use. Maybe limit it to one or something like that. Just an observation and suggestion.

Oh I see. Well I guess Cordell would be the one to talk to about that. When it's an obvious rule that needs to be changed such as this, I don't have a problem with implementing it. I had several cars for my race that deslotted only because they were making too much power and got unstable down track. I did everything I could to get them down the track. Traction magnets would have solved it. We have several other 4g classes with similar builds that allow them. No big deal. It was an obvious change. Just my 2 cents.....

Unless Cordell has gone back and changed the original listing for the X2 and X3 class I am reading them as traction mag have been allowed for both. . The X2 states either traction mags or wheelie bar. You cannot use both.
Am I reading this wrong or had Cordell made a change on the originals.
Guess we better wait for him!

I'm reading it the same as Alan. Looks like it was changed today because of some of the problems that Jeff had with the cars at his race. I'm thinking the hot ticket would be to run the wheelie bars, not the traction mags in X-2. Who knows in X-3.

The powers that be made a change for the better and yet somebody has something to say. They can't just say great idea because the same person posted before wanting this change and now that it has happened he still isn't happy. Sounds to me like an instigator of sorts, that's what is so Twilight Zone to me. Remember you guys saying how cheap traction mags are and that newer chassis came with them and having to take them off, any of this ring a bell?

Glad to see the OPTION is there. Up to the builder as to what to use keeping in mind the different tracks that we run at.
Jeff experienced some issues on his track which I believe is AW or Tomy/AFX type track.
The next event will be with the X1 and X3 builds and will be on a TKO continuous rail and different surface.
We shall see how that plays out in April!

Now I can point out all the hypocrisy ! Would you like me to start.with anyone particular ? Tom, I must have missed the post you were going to do about weighing cars for race. Could you repost that. Maybe just hit quote if you can find it. Tia...... Peter

I'm patient , I'll wait another month or two before asking again. The weight of the cars doesn't matter since it's not part of the rules away. I used a digital scale with a plastic spray paint cap on top them zero out before weighing each car. All cars where weighed on top of the cap to make sure the magnets didn't pull and give a false reading. Hope now you can stop crying about everything or maybe we should just call the site PCENG'S WORLD.
