I have never been any good as a modeler. In fact I dread to think of how many models I've ruined over the years. All that money down the drain. I attained no enjoyment from the tedious process that consistently resulted in failure. All I wondered is why these models weren't offered pre-assembled and pre-painted; ready for me to display. All the ones I had put together ended up getting tossed into the rubbish bin. Then there's the expense of painting; with the only proper way of doing it is by using an airbrush. Too expensive and too time consuming. As for AW slot cars being a great bargain at $ 15; not so much in my case. To start my dollar is worth 75 cents U.S. ; then there's the always overly expensive shipping charges. The government not satisfied with their all but worthless money wants to collect their 5% GST tax; to do so they allow the so-called post office a $ 10 collection fee for them to collect tax on each package they e-v-e-n-t-u-a-l-l-y deliver. The same post office that after 100 years of home delivery has decided to cut costs by delivering all mail to " community mailboxes " so people can have the fun of trekking through a snowstorm to collect their bills and junk mail. And all the while they've consistently raised postal costs each and every year; to the point where it costs $ 1.00 to mail an average letter. That is during the times the postal workers aren't on strike. Packages delivered to the wrong address, packages used as footballs by postal workers, packages that disappeared into the Bermuda Triangle. Hobbies are not only too expensive but can become very tedious, very quickly ! Tetsuo. In a nutshell you think american companies are lazy and cut corners, yet you want a pre-painted pre-assembled highly detailed car put in your hand for less than 15$ because the shipping from here to there is ridiculous and you have to trudge through snow to get to your own mail box to get your mail... My daughter once asked me for a Unicorn, but im glad to see that her hopes arnt too high. As for hobbies being tedious and time consuming, who knew...

I personally dont buy brands i dont like, if the detail isnt to par and the price is too high for the american brand... why not buy the European brand?
Tetsuo...?

There's a lot of passion in the people that enjoy these cars. I just love the idea of what autoworld is trying to do, it's the execution of it that's the problem. Chassis with sloppy tolerances, corners cut that IMHO don't need to be. But here I am spending my hard earned cash on them. I think that is when I get an opinion on the product. Everyone can say how they feel but everybody on this or any other forum knows that quality control is an issue at aw. So what's left? The look of the cars. If they look bad too it just a bummer. I slam my cars, tuck the wheels, all that stuff and they look way meaner and it hasn't affected performance so far. I think the frustration is that the cars had to be engineered at one point, so engineer them to be as close to the reference material as possible with the resources at hand ie: 1974 parts bin 4 gear afx. Your customers have figured it out why couldn't aw. And before more folks pile on about costs or whatever, as I said in previous posts I get it.

Lewis, OK I'll ask you... are you happy with aw's product line? Look of course we buy the stuff, it all there is. Back in the late 90's fly slot cars came out of nowhere and changed the 1/32 world with car that were not only modern for the time but set a new level for detail. The cars where basically the same price as it sad competition. You can't make everyone happy but I bet all of us guys would love the changes mentioned in this thread. Every one of us has bought these cars, we all at different levels want the product to be good. I personally don't want a piece of junk that needs work before I can run it, sure I can fix it but it would be awesome if the car was set the that higher standard. All you need to do is look at the super 3 thread and almost everyone has a opinion on those cars and lot of it not good. Their problem is different but the desire is the same. A good product, a car that all the bugs are worked out. I want drag cars the look more like the real thing, Lewis, do you want cars that you have to completely rebuild to look cool and run well? There's a happy medium here somewhere. The frustration for me comes from the fact that their gonna make the dang thing anyway so take the extra time to do it. There may be a higher price but not what others think it would be. My bet is its more pennies than dollars

AW should have had a timer, or at least develop one. It wouldn't cost much. Id rather have that then a return loop!

They did. Summit racing sells the system. Unfortunately the dumbbells ran the timing to only tenths. A tenth in HO racing relates to about a second or two in full size. It can be as much as 10-20 car lengths in HO. In other words night and day. Another occasion where a manufacturer has no clue to what they are doing. I can't count how many races on my track have been decided by thousandths or even 10 thousandths, let alone hundredths. Tenths are almost useless.

Sigh!!! The AW bashing is getting old! How is wanting or suggesting improvements to a product bashing the company ? Are we all supposed to just accept whatever is available with some big silly smile on our faces ? It must be magic to be totally satisfied with whatever is on offer. Tetsuo. Have you submitted your feelings to Auto World? If you did what was their response? If no then this is bashing. As said previously. No one else has made such a huge attempt to keep the legacy of aurora alive in its purest form.I have had hundreds of t-jets,magnatractions and non magnatractions and no two ran alike. Every one of them needed some tuning to get max performance. So again if AW never responded to your ideas then yes this is considered bashing. You can please some of the people some of the time. But you can not please all of the people all of the time.
