Smoky Mountain HO drag race 11/25-27/2016 RESULTS:

I must say that the cars in this class ran better than I expected, some real fast cars for almost stock pancake motors with mean green armatures.

ROUND 1:

TQ Dave632 and #2 qualifier SKR get byes into the 2nd round.

JJWallace and his blue Plymouth vs Blackoxxpurple and his Tap it Dodge. JJ takes the win with a strong .6275 @ 20.91 over BkOx 1.5575 @ 7.10.

Race #2 is 79Malibu and his white and green 67 Vette and ECBill with his red and white 57 Vette. 79 takes the win with a .6316 @ 21.71 over ECs .7387 @ 20.11.

Race #3 Eagle in his blue and gray Cobra vs Dave632 in the Farm truck. Eagle takes the win with a .6824 @ 20.54 over 632s .7278 @ 22.50.

Race #4, Nosubfor3 with his blue & silver 2000 Vette vs KiwiDave and his white & green Hemi Dodge. Nosub takes the win with a .6532 @ 20.80 over Kiwi's .6957 @ 19.10.

Race #5, ECBill and his pink & black 57 Vette vs Nosubfor3's blue Plymouth. ECBill takes the win with his best run to date. .6474 @ 19.65 over Nosubs close .6531 @ 22.28.

Final 1st round race. Nosubfor3 with a red 55 Chevy Nomad vs Blackoxxpurple in a blue & purple Chevelle. Nosub takes the win with a .6741 @ 19.71 over blkoxx with a 1.3185 @ 9.35

ROUND #2:


Up first in round 2 is TQ Dave632 and his Super Tire Truck vs Eagle in his blue and silver Cobra. Dave takes the win with a .5842 @ 25.25 over Eagles .6681 @ 2017.

Race #2 in round 2 is SKR with his red & black Dodge vs. Nosubfor3's 55 Chevy Nomad. SKR takes the win with a .6029 @ 23.51 over Nosubs .6579 @ 20.79.

Race #3 is JJWallace in his blue Dodge vs Nosubfor3 in his blue & silver 2000 Vette. JJ takes the win with a .6229 @ 21.71 over Nosubs .6727 @ 22.58.

Final race of round 2 is ECBill and his pink 57 Vette vs 79Malibu and his White and green 67 Vette. This was the best race of PSO so far, ECBill gets a close one running a .6572 @ 19.26 over a .6583 @ 21.44. This one was great one to watch as Bill got a jump on Macs car by .0108 as Macs car lost traction at the hit, then + another .109 to the 60'. Macs car started to close the gap on the big end but there was not enough real estate. Final Victory margin .0149.

SEMI FINALS:


1st up is Dave632 with the red Super Tire Chevy vs ECBill and his pink 57 Vette. The Truck hits it's best ET so far hitting a .5772 @ 25.54, which is high MPH for PSO, EC hit .6547 @ 19.59.

Next we have SKR and his black and red Dodge vs JJWallace and his blue Plymouth. SKR improves his time over the last run with a .5867 @ 23.76 over JJs .6308 @ 21.51. This sets the final with the #1 & #2 qualifiers. Should be a great race.

In an almost unbelievable race the 2 cars DEAD HEAT TO .0000!!!!!

SKR & Dave632 final dead heat

Dave632 gets a tiny hole shot by .0006, SKR takes it back and then some at the 60' for a .0131 lead, staying exactly the same at the 330'. Here comes the 660' and Dave's truck is closing the gap which is now down to .0080. At the finish the Truck closes the gap for a DEAD HEAT. WOW that was one Heck of a race.
If you notice the win light is on the trucks side because that's what most sanctioning bodies do is give a tie to the better reaction time.

Can we decide the final on a tie? NAH, lets run it again.

Well this time Dave632 gets the win by a big margin, .008, luckily the bumper was recently painted on the truck. The truck ran a .5825 @ 25.44 vs. a .5920 @ 23.27 for SKRs red Dodge as both cars slowed slightly on this pass.
What a fantastic finish for Pro Street Outlaw racing.

Top 4 qualifiers, SKR, Dave632 2 cars, KiwiDave, get a bye into the second round which will leave a field of 8 cars.


ROUND 1:


First run up is Eagle with his silver Dodge Neon vs Bluesguy with his yellow orange 56 Chevy. Eagle gets the win with a .4352 28.29 over Bluesguys .7177 15.43.

Race #2 is JJWallace with his white and black 95 Camaro vs ECBill with his blue and silver 57 Vette. Jeff gets the win with a .4421 30.04 over .6417 19.15.

Race #3 is JJWallace with his gold and white Firebird vs ECBill and his blue 60 Vette with Jeff taking the win .4478 27.38 over Bills .5515 25.54.

Final 1st round run is Nosubfor3 with his green and white Firebird vs his black and blue 69 Camaro. The Firebird takes the win in another super close race .4714 29.64 over .4803 29.01. Best race by far of round one with a win margin of only .0003 or 3 ten thousandths. Probably less than a coat of paint on the bumper. The Camaro had a slight hole shot of .0006 but the Firebird makes it up by the 60' mark. At the 330 they are just about dead even with the Firebird holding a slight edge. The Camaro starts to make its move after the 660' mark but there was just not enough to catch the Firebird. Great race......

ROUND 2:


TQ, SKR with his white and green 67 Vette lines up against Nosubfor3 and his green and white Firebird. SKR takes the win with a .3564 41.32 run over a .4711 28.29 run for the Firebird.

Race #2 has Dave632 and his green and white 55 Chevy vs JJWallace and his gold and white Firebird. D632 takes the win running .3689 37.26 over a .4727 23.43 run for the Firebird. In this race the Firebird threw one of its tires off near the end of the track which slowed the car some from it's previous run.

Race #3 is Dave632 in an orange 55 Chevy vs Eagle in his silver and blue Dodge Neon. The 55 gets the win running .4202 29.77 over a .4419 28.89 for the Neon. This race was pretty close as the win margin was only .0138.

Final race of the quarterfinals is JJWallace with his white and black 95 Camaro vs KiwiDave and his white Ford T bird. The Camaro takes the win in a slight upset as KiwiDave had qualified slightly better. The Camaro ran .4339 30.57 over the T birds .4532 32.16 for a .0264 win margin. The T Bird seemed to lose a little traction in the early part of the run which was enough for the Camaro to take the win.

SEMI FINALS:


First up we have SKR and his 67 Vette vs JJWallace and his Camaro. SKR gets the win running .3590 41.32 over Jeffs .4336 30.17.

Race #2 to set the final is between Dave632 and his 2 55 Chevy's. The green and white one is dominant running a .3700 37.26 over the orange 55s best run of the event .4092 31.57.

2.5 Modified FINAL::


TQ SKR/Sam vs Dave632 in another final round. The last one was quite a battle, lets see what happens here.





Please don't think I am making this up to make it exciting, fortunately I have pictures to prove it.






Dave632 and his green and white 55 Chevy running its best time of the event takes the win with a .3608 38.74 over SKRs quicker and faster .3579 41.32 for a win margin of .0020 or 2 thousandths of a second. The 55 took a .0049 hole shot and I believe that comes from the shorter body of the 55 compared to the Vette because they looked dead even when I watched it. The system starts the time when the cells are uncovered giving the shorter car the edge in reaction but it does not effect the overall ET. If you look at the readouts the 55 pulls ahead a little more at the 60' and the 330 but has lost a little ground at the 660 with the Corvette closing the gap all the way to the finish with a higher MPH. Just not enough to close the gap and a .002 win is a real squeaker.

Well once again I could not leave this alone. I had to see if the lane was the difference. I have tried to make this track as equal as I can but some cars run better on one lane or the other. So I switched lanes and ran the race again. I had no plan as to what I would do if the results were different???



On opposite lanes the result was the same only this time the win margin was .0032 or a whole thousandth different!!! Once again the 55 gets the hole shot, (both cars are started at the same time), but this time SKR gets back a little at the 60'. Then the 55 starts to pull away to the 330 but the Vette starts to make up ground again at the top end of the track. The 55 gets it again with a .3594 39.18, its best of the event over SKRs .3580 40.58 for another squeaker win of .0032
