Sandfly Alley and Race Team, New Zealand

I had an aunt and uncle who turned that into a competitive sport...  

There will be a short vid of the first night, so lets just say that i wasnt surprised by the lack of performance from the sand fly cars, better luck this week at the ice cave.

So there you have it, 16 cars in the sandfly team last night, what a night, felt like we raced till dawn.




In nostalgia, Jungle Jim and the Scribble, In truck, f100 and 52 chev, in pro stock, jegs and mopar, in funny car, gtx and traxis, top fuel macs and parts plus, 3 gears ratfink vw bus and rat fink challenger, t jet 2x willies coupes, vintage gas willies coup, promod the ghost.

That took some doing. Qualifying went like expected, with a rail height issue after the track had been re-laid, camp mother took to it with the trusty hammer.



With 8 drivers entered it made for an interesting evening.



The f100 was up to it and took the track record for opening night with a .877 then .849 over the 1000 ft.

Chicken dinners, and the huge crowd were on their feet clapping and yelling, GTX in funny car and Parts plus in Top Fuel.

What a night, next week we battle the ole rattle track at mustang alley.

Well, what a start to the night with a swap of race venue, we were off down the road to waverly park as pony boy had other commitments. Big thanks to Matt to get the meeting up and running at short notice.



Yes i know its early but Ront the train guy needs his sleep.

Qualifying went ok with only one none starter and you guessed it, Mac's tools still not performing till halftrack, more work needed.

The sandfly crew chief lent Alf a few cars to run during the night.
With racing under way the records were written up and the sandfly drivers did their job and got a few on the board.



Noted as missing was the pro mods due to only being 3 cars in the field.



Also during racing its not uncommon to see Alan the lawn mower man on his knees looking for lost springs and brushes.

Racing tonight at Sandfly Alley, all 16 cars, yes thats right 16 cars in the garage ready to go, found the issue with the mac's tools car, so all is good.
