I don’t think I’ll be able to make it down to Texas.

cozee, for the most part we mail our cars to the host. he and his "crew" run them for us and then return them after the event. so many folks who want to race have no one close to them and so this PROXY format has been developed. so, you prep your cars the best you can and mail them to the race host. you might include simple instructions on how to warm up the car or clean the tires and such. the hosts have been doing this for quite awhile and will do small things like check the pickup shoes for flatness on their track and/or oil when they think it is necessary. there are some live races and I think all hosts welcome help if it is available, so traveling to a hosted event is possible. I just finished a proxy/mail in event two weeks ago and I have a live event scheduled for Nov 3 locally.

Yes, proxy is the way many of us have to run since there are no local tracks for us to race on. I will also mention that I don't think any of the cars have been lost in
the mail.

That's cool!!! Using the NTRA rules I assume? I will look through the old stuff I had left and see if I can put anything together just so I can be a part. Are all NTRA classes run at proxy events, providing there are enough entrants for a given class?

Of course there is lots more stuff that surrounds that. The NTRA rules are a guideline for the Racemasters to use and intended to keep everybody on the same level instead of "House Rules" at every event. They can be followed specifically or tweaked to suit the Race and Racemaster. Here is the Sign up thread with the rules for The Texas Nationals. If you have any questions you can post them there. We also run List races for Pro Street Outlaw and Four Gear Outlaw which are patterned after the Street Outlaws TV show. We racefor postitions on a Top 10 list for both. Thank you for your interest. nitroslots.com/thread/4528/2018-texas-nationals-creek-dragway?page=1

Hi guys, my name is Jesse. I signed up a few days ago but, I wanted to wait till after the event to do an intro as to not distract from that. I'm 33 and live in Southwest Iowa with my wife and three kids (3,6 & 12). I just discovered HO slot car drag racing and purchased the Auto World set, this one to be exact... 20180924_144712 by ratrodfanbobcat, on Flickr I also bought a top fuel car too... 20180924_144534 by ratrodfanbobcat, on Flickr I have a Jag DR-1 and resin 65 Comet gasser body on the way as well, hopefully be here today Being there is nothing around in Iowa for anything HO slot related, I thought this site and it's proxy racing would be a fun thing to try. After watching the last race event, I'm a little imtimidated lol. I've never competed in anything with slot cars and the last time I even owned some was at least 20 years ago. I hope to learn and eventually join in on the racing but, I want to at least be somewhat competitive first if you know what I mean. I look forward to getting to know you fellas and more about making this little cars go faster! Thanks for reading, sorry it might be a little long winded.

Second....don't be intimidated about anything here. You will get any help you need or want. All you need to do is ask. Your story of owning cars 20yrs ago and not competing sounds just like me when I joined the forum in 2011. Now I have a whole room full of stuff and am totally engulfed in the hobby. We have two more events scheduled before the end of the year and more to come next season. There is a wealth of information all over the forum if you want to look for it. Like I said......if you need help just ask. Jeff

Welcome to the site. There is a ton of information on this site or you can just ask. We all try to help each other. I remember my first event about 4 years ago. My car had trouble getting down the track, qualified last and was well behind everyone. I have made some improvements since then. Get involved it is a lot of fun and addictive. I now have near 200 HO drag cars so I have no self control but I don't race full size any more and all these cars, track and equipment cost less than one race engine. At least that is what you can tell your wife or girl friend.

Welcome Neighbor! Where about are you in SW Iowa? I am in East Central Illinois, Champaign-Urbana to be a little more exact. Just a sweet little road trip away!

Welcome. Hope you'll join us for the upcoming races!
When you don't have other kids in the neighborhood to play with, you just have to play long distance via the mail. These are a great bunch of guys to race with. Next best thing to racing in person. You've probably noticed that we have folks from all over the world racing here.

Thanks guys, for the welcome. I will try and get involved in the racing soon. I've been researcher the last few days and finally set up my AW track but, forgot batteries for the tree and win light lol. I hooked up my model train power supply that has an advertised DC output of 23v and 20 amps, however checking it with my volt/ohm meter shows it's putting out 21.7v. It sure makes the cars run better than the wall-wart though.
Yesterday morning I won a Johnny Lightning Thunderjet on eBay, if it runs well I'll enter it in the next event in Gas class.

Glad to see you are planning some racing with us Jesse. I started about 4 years ago and became addicted. Ask if you need any help with making these cars run better.
