Thought I'd take a look at Lite Em Up tonight. Just doing an outside visual, not taking anything apart yet...looks like we threw a spring lmaooooo.

Wish there was a good was to prevent that, short of installing brush cups. Are you running without a rear screw in the chassis? That often results in gear mesh issues, in my cars.

Interesting. During qualifications, another car had that happen and was fixed. Not that far out of placement though.

Very common problem with those chassis which is one of the reasons I try to run older AFX chassis that had the permanent spring mounted on the chassis.. I generally put a small dab of Super glue in one corner of the spring support. This stops spring creep but makes it difficult to replace the spring if you put to much glue on it. Remember all the electrical energy flows thru the spring so don't put to much glue on the tab. Also try to make sure the spring support sits fairly flat so there is less room for the spring to slide under.

No back screw Bill. This chassie was not made exactly square. I tried different top plates but when I put that screw in i get a bind in the gears I haven't figured out the why.
I have a few more 4gear now so ill just switch the pan out.
I looked through all my afx 4gear and they all look like they have had grinding or sanding on them. I'm going to find a good one to use. The afx just feel better when you put the top plate on. Looks straight and the top plate doesn't seem to have much movement on the Afx compared to autoworld.

The old AFX chassis are superior to the newer Auto World.

Big time superior Dave.
You had me thinking about the glue on the spring today. I Was wondering if we're allowed to spin a loop of the spring under the brush lever and solder it on. At least on chassis we can use shunt wires ?
That would take care of that problem for us.

I to have had that problem with the spring disappearing into that canal. I like Daves glue idea. I fixed mine by whittling out a small piece of styrene and super glue it to keep that spring from going in there. But it’s a real pain to do. I also put some JB weld on a tooth pick and filled it that way also.

I got one. Very thankful for it. The arm is in my tjet gasser. The chassie had some sanding on it , so I haven't used it in the races. its in line for my unlimited build. I figured I'd chop up a few autoworld first so I could get an idea of what I was doing. It should be ready for the next race.

I also put some JB weld on a tooth pick and filled it that way also. Rick Rick my solution for that problem works on any pancake chassis that uses that type setup. I just use a tiny drop of super glue, applied with a toothpick, on only one side of the spring as the power runs thru the spring and if you use to much glue you might insulate the spring from the brush. To much glue will also make the spring hard to remove if you have to change it. I also use that method on pickup springs. This makes the pickup shoe easier to install and I lose a lot less springs. If you put to much glue on the spring it can be a terror to remove however.

Generator is ready for the black out Fin. Hit the Frankenstein switch and bring on the power. It's alive.

Playing around with some magnets. Look at the difference on the scale between low and high downforce. Same magnets same everything. Traction magnets just switched side to side. Low downforce is the lower reading. The reading can be manipulate a little by moving the chassie some, but still that's a big difference.
