I'm working my way back to casting some stuff again. On a very small limited scale. Here is one I started about 5 plus years ago of The Flying Dutchman Funny Car from 1966.It was a 66 Dodge Dart and I used a 65 Dodge Coronet that I'm going to change the tail lights and some other things to make it look more like the Dart. That's me with Al Vanderwoude at Frenso Drag Strip in 66. I was 9 or so then. When came from So. California to race Northern California he would stay at my dad's shop. I really goofed big time on the paint. After I cleared before applying the decals I dropped it and chipped in 3 noticeable places of coarse. I fixed those cleared it again and decaled it before I should have because I cound't wait and finger printer it. So now I had to wait for it to really dry and rub the prints out and decal it and I cleared it and its drying. I know What a Idiot !!! It will sit a lot lower once I'm able to glue the interior to the body. Looking at the Dutchman's car is why the name "Funny Car"came about. I was fortune enough to be part of that by getting to go to all the races with my dad and hanging around the shop (they called The Funny Farm a old chicken ranch). That picture came about because my dad got a new polaroid camera and I guess I was his guinea pig. When I was 16 me and my dad built a Dragster then a year later a Funny Car. Called it the Hairy Canary also, wanted to keep the name going. I've been driving something off and on since then. My latest was a couple of years ago in a Nostalgia Top Fuel car. And If we ever can get things figured out I'm supposed to drive a Nostalgia Funny Car. It's not been wanting to cooperate. It's been over 2 years and it just doesn't want to make it to the track. She, The Car has been a real Christine It's ready now. Just waiting for this Covid19 thing to let us. Only if she, the car wants to ? That is a stunning car and a great build. These older cars have real character that somehow seems to be lost in some of the new funny cars. Maybe it’s just me being nostalgic or just the technology moving on.

the Flying Dutchman has quite a stretch to it. ah yes, the beginning of funny cars. were those an off shoot of the altered wheel base cars? in any case, we are so much better off for the experimentation from back then. is that a free floating blower in the Nostalgia Top Fuel picture?

I wanted to build something new for Jeff's race in October. This one is a Fuel Altered for the 4 Gear Super Comp class. I started this years ago but like most of my projects I get side tracked and work on something else that I think is more cool at the time. I was working on a 23 T AA/FA yesterday and totally goofed it up. So I scratched that for now and went to this 34 Ford Coupe that I started years ago. It's kinda roughed up. I took the parts from my Late model Topolino AA/FA and I cast the 34 Ford body years ago. Now I need to figure out if this is what I want ? Or tweak it ? I'm thinkin about a Top Fuel style wing for the rear ? Maybe change the front end and front wing ? Not sure yet. This would be considered a late model Newstalgia AA/FA but could easily be made into a Nostalgia AA/FA from the 60's. I will end up doing both just don't know which one first ?
