Got my HO Auto World Hot Wheels Slot Car Racing Set delivered today. Wife and I made a few passes. Nice. Question is looking at dragon slot timing kits. Standard kit or upgrade to bracket racing kit?

I asked myself that question and ended up going with drag race coordinator. Check out the thread in here...Dynomike and Skillets excellent timing adventure...

Amen to drag race coordinator. Best bang for the buck. Several on here use it and can guide you through setup.

Slot Dragon is what I have too. It’s been a good system. 1st set of sensors I had were magnetic and often did not pick up the pancake cars. Had to tape magnets to the bodies for the sensors to detect them.
Later bought a set of photo sensors and like them much better.
Been considering asking them to make me a custom set of photo eyes that have longer wires between the lanes. Would put both sets in one lane, with one set timing from start to finish the other 0 to 60’. Would use that for practice and race setups

Hello LHP,
Nice to bump into you here. We've met before.
I would attempt to answer your question. But I too am a newbie to drag racing. I'm here to learn, like yourself.

Slot Dragon is probably the easiest one to start with. The others require a computer/printer and some computer knowledge. The Slot Dragon is plug and go + Daniel is great to deal with and will answer your questions, with TrakMate it is like pulling teeth to get an answer. I moved on to the TrackMate system because I wanted more info etc. but it is a lot more expensive, mine was 1K with the options + you need a computer to run it.
