Hi El Camino Bill, I humbly thank you for your kind words. Hairy? Let me flip the car over and check for hair. Please join us. Rules are easy. Repainted old non-magnatraction AFX funny cars with an independent front axle. Stock wheels and chassis. 14-Ohm armature. Red/wht motor magnets. Braids for the UK track. No shunts. Silicones. That's about it.

Let's call it a "Hairy Camel"? Doesn't someone here already own a "Hairy Canary" Cuda? Cheers Ken

I am trying to play catch-up with many classes since I started racing several months ago. Some cars/classes cross over to be able to race here. Others don't. I'm still learning. I've put the Cuda aside for now as it's not lined up to race for several months yet. On the bench is a cool 70 Mustang body I got from Angry Jeff's Racing. I was really looking forward to building this car. It appears I need to prep the body a little better if I want a smoother finish. I have room and time to improve. Decals will help. The chassis is a 2019 Micro Scalextric from the "Justice League" children's series. The 9-volt battery powered chassis runs quite fast at 12-volts @ 4-amps. I've changed the front wheels, and rear tires. It was fun to mate the body to the chassis. More pics to follow when the car dries.

Here's a pic of the Micro Scalextric cars new in the package. It doesn't get much uglier. But the chassis are nice if you like cars with braids.

View Attachment Sounds like you may have discovered something that I also had to learn the hard way. With resin bodies, you shouldn’t skip the primer, no matter how well made or how smooth it looks. With hard plastic bodies, I’ve been applying finish coats directly on the plastic. One some, a coat of white or other base color will be sprayed under the finish coat. That doesn’t seem to work as well on reason bodies. Resins seem to turn out better with a primer coat and some wet sanding.

Hi El Camino Bill, Thank you very kindly for the advice. I've been spoiled by styrene. It's simple. I must drive the car faster! You can't see the faults that way. Attachments:

Concerning Mr Hairy Canary. I changed my car to a "Green throated yellow parrot". The scoop looks better candy lime green. Ken

A while back I ended up with two inexpensive AW cars that were everyone's least favorites due to poor colour choice. The cars were stripped down and repainted. They both moved up a few ranks. I got my drivers licence in a white 1974 Vega. The good old days.
