Thank you very kindly, Bill. I was not aware of the yellow Olds Rally 350 until now. That would make a nice looking slot car. 90% came with a wing that might be hard to duplicate. But not all Rally's had a wing. View AttachmentThanks for the idea! The Rallye 350 was only made for one year, 1970....I bought one in 1971, used.. I paid $1500. It was a new dealership, I test drove it at night, came back and told them it ran like junk. They turned down my $1500 offer...Three days later they called me and asked if I was still interested, for $1500 as is...I went down and did all the paper work (cash). After we were done, the salesman noticed I had a bag with me, he laughingly asked me what I had in the bag...I said a NEW distributor cap. I said the night I took it for a test ride, I popped the hood and could see it "arcing"...I changed the cap in the dealership parking lot, and left...with a nice smokey burn out. The wing...mine did not have a wing, you're right, very few did not have one. I added one and painted it black..I think I paid about $100 from an Oldsmobile dealer (lol..not the one I bought the car from).

I would like to humbly thank everyone for the good wishes. I'm doing much better these days. One day at a time. I practised laying down some paint again. I hope to get it right one of these days. View AttachmentA certain plain white Mustang also got painted. Hopefully it will make it in time for the exchange. This Ferrari 308 is an unusual car for a drag racer. Can my old Testarossa drag race if it has a blower? View AttachmentThat Ferrari runs in new zealand.

As I recall the Rally 350 was developed by Olds because the insurance companies were clobbering young guys with high premiums on the big block cars. The Rally was intended to be a sporty alternative without the high insurance costs. Seems like Chevy did the same thing. Other manufacturers likely did too.
With Olds a “small block” to “big block” swap is a piece of cake. They’re basically the same engine just with different bore and stroke.

Great info Bill. I know insurance companies still don't like 455 Cid monster big block cars like this Olds 442 to this very day. You pay to play. Both with insurance, and super bad gas mileage.

Chevy took a simple approach, the El Camino! registered as a pick up truck, there weren't the same restrictions on pick ups that there were on cars from the insurance companies. so you could have a nice front end/cab that was stylish and the big block option if you wanted it.

Auto World has an upcoming release, Used Cars2 that includes some ElCaminos. Looking forward to those becoming available.
Dash has also forecast a 70 ElCamino but no release date yet.

I may have found my next drag-racer. A 1960 Maserati 3500. Just kidding. That'll never happen. It gets a bit quiet between races.

Some of you may know that I've been battling health problems. I have not made open statements because everyone has enough of their own problems. No one likes a whiner.
However, I recently finished my last cancer treatment and got a clean bill of health from my Dr appointment today. This good news I'll openly share with everyone.
I would like to thank everyone that inspired me to keep going. I'm also thankful for the gifts recieved along the way. Nothing makes me smile more than to paint a new body.
Now that my energy is coming back. I have a lot of new cars to build.
Everyone at NitroSlots is the best! Thanks a million!!!
Cheers, Ken

Ken that's Super Good to hear you have a clean bill of health and beat your cancer. I've never had to go through all the treatments but seen friends and family members and it's a battle. Hope you get your energy restored soon and back to building and painting and sharing your projects. It's good therapy at times

Bound to be some hacked up Maseratis out there just beggin to become race cars, or perhaps one of our resin casting or 3D printing aces could help you out.

Thank you very kindly Rick and El Camino Bill. This is my only Maserati. They are rare in Canada in any shape. I would rather keep it as a road racer. AND drive it gently. Speaking of Volvo gassers. I just found these Vettes at Walmart.
