sounds like a lightning strike that backed up through the negative/ground of the house wiring. unfortunately, that could have also jumped from the rail of the track to the sensor wire and right into the SlotDragon. I used to do installation and repair on phone wires and have seen similar in many, many cases. entire home phone wiring systems destroyed when a lightning strike surged through outlet into answering machine and then through phone wiring. interestingly enough the carbons on the outside of the house to prevent that from coming in via the phone lines were untouched. glad there was no more damage done to your home, (like that isn't enough!?) and no one was hurt.

Sorry for your situation Bill. Thank God there was no fire and no injuries. Lightning can be deadly. THE main problem I had with race coordinator was not the software. I am using an old laptop with windows 7 and 32bit. The latest Arduino software was for 64 bit. Once I found the 32bit version everything worked ok.

The Slot Dragon doesn’t have an on off switch so it has to be unplugged to turn it off. I’m almost certain that it was unplugged the day of the storm. In light of that it doesn’t make sense to place it on the Lightning but have no other explanations. The strike was on the fence right behind the shop. It had a lot of energy in it. Figure that some static electricity may have gotten it. We lost: 3 ground fault outlets 3 led shop lights Stereo Box fan Coffee pot Antenna amp Several fence pickets and rails Numerous breakers were tripped Fortunately I had forgotten to plug in the RV earlier that day. One of the few time that forgetfulness was a good thing. Awww man! Thank goodness it wasn't any worse than this....which is bad enough. I'm sorry you're having to deal with this.

We are very blessed and pleased to only have this much damage.
Some of you may recall that we had a fire in the garage and shop in 2016. The biggest loss was a nearly cherry 84 Monte Carlo SS.
Don't ever want to have to go through that again. The fire was one disaster, the company hired to fix the damage was a bigger disaster.
Had a quick look at the Slot Dragon this morning before I had to leave for an appointment. Power pack is not putting out. Hoping the damage stops there.
Either way, still want to explore the race coordinator. Have old desktops and CRT monitors that could be used. Both are Dell Pentiums. Will have to lean on Sam and Mike if I take the leap.

Did some troubleshooting today. Power supply is dead. Connected to an adjustable supply set to 12v and display came on. Starting line sensors don’t work, one finish line sensor works.
My set originally came with the magnetic sensors, so I gave them a try. Surprisingly they worked. Don’t really like the magnetic sensors since most of the cars need to have magnets taped to the body to be detected. At least I have something to work with. All of the cars tested seem to be slower. Not sure if the timer is off or just slow cars. Confirmed voltage at the track with a meter.
Slot Dragon said they would be able to fix or replace it.

There's some good looking cars there. Will make normal race nights a nightmare.

Dragrace coordinator seems to be working well now Bill. I also got my hands on the trackmate software. I'm going to try and see if I can run it with my arduino.
