OK GUYS lets get it into gear. Some of you are hanging back, thinking "gee i oughtta get my car ready" or "I'd like to race but these guys are all goooood!" If you for instance want to rtace a Ratt Rodd, a JL or AW car cost around twelbe bucks give or take, I think. If you want GOOD tires maybe spend another 5- 1O bucks. Most of the body 'decoration' is very cheap or even nearly free. RATT RODDS can anything but dragsters or funny cars pretty much. This is a FUN class with emphasis on old school styling. Hot rods with flames, Shoeboxes with rust, or even Pristine Trailer Queens in old school style are welcome. The theme is "RATT" but no car will be turned away on appearance. We will make sure the most imaginative RATT will get a prize worth your time and recognition.
For those interested in BB/FC.: if you raced in the GASSER NATIONALS or the GASSER REUNION, YOU ALREAdy have a car. Buy A MEAD BROS body or modify an existing t jet body into any style of funny car circa pre-1976 and you got it. Tires as large as the Aurora Four Gear size wheel and tire are legal. Pro Mod?? All are welcome but these cars arent cheap. Ask around for guidance on any of these aforementioned cars and you will get plenty of help. There are guys at FR HO who would likely be very willing and helpful too. The more entries we get, the more fun it is for the racers, and let's face it, the better sponsorships we can get. If you have a buddy, offer to teach and help him with an entry. Father's get your sons involved. This Hobby does not have to cost a fortune, and can provide hours of hobby entertainment per dollar spent. The mail in nature of these events allows you to compete on a NATIONAL level without paying the air fare!
Rest assured, there are prizes for Ratt and BB/FC that will easily outweigh your investement. Pro Mod is more for the hard core guys, so prizes are less incentive but will winners will be recognized with modest prizes, Certificates, and Bragging rights.

Without a doubt this is the coolest thing happening at the Fall Nat's. CPL McIlroy who is in Iraq would like to be a part of the racing action. His father who goes by Keystoneracing on the forum is sending him some stuff to work on and hope to be able to get it back to Colorado in time for the Fall Nat's. I do believe that James will be getting the long distance award. Please welcome #19 in Rat Rod CPL McIlroy.

Paposse, thanks for joining up here on the forum and being a part of this race. I think you'll adapt to the slots without much problems since you have a R/C background. I started off with slots went to R/C racing and now am back to slots. So when is your Dad going to sign up? or did you beat up on him too much in R/C racing? Think about it Keystone, you both can compete at the same event. It is great to have you both on board with us. Ask questions if your unsure of anything. There is a great bunch of guys here who are willing to help. Sam

Run this by you guys to see if I got it right. When the rules state"braids are permitted" you have to have pick-ups shoes and you can add braids? But the Pro Mods you can just have braids, and you don't have to have pick-up shoes. I think I got it right.
Thanks for your time: Iowajeff

pro mods can run 'any' pick up system. other classes we were anticipating standard shoes with braids 'added"

I got a question about eligibility of certain body styles for Ratt Rodd and thought I'd share my answer with everyone...yes rat rod was purposely left wide open. Its almost more about the appearance and feel and the racing is a bonus......
"Rat Rodd is meant to be a very wide open and fun class! A 1929 Model altered may line up against a rusty 1941 Willys, then against a pristine metaflake Taildragger Merc, then meet a Camaro with a missing fender in the final.........this calss is about imagination and maybe even a littlre bit of leg pulling and exaggeration. The rules state year limitations which I forget right now but even they arent to be taken overly seriously....tho we would like to enforce them............if someone shows up with wrecked 2006 Mustang we may just let it run!!
We arent looking for outrageous charicatures........but then again with your guys imagination, who can tell what the judges will like? I promise a worthy and worthwhile prize to the best "appearing" Rat Rodd..................

HOC, I listed you as #17. Nitro was #17 but is unable to make the show. So, what is a 67 snorevett?

a Snorvett is ,as most of my machines, a 67 corvett thats so slow the timers stop working by the 60foot mark! so slow the driver takes NoDoze to finnish the 1/4 mile.
