That is my favorite Vette of all. Great work so far! I'm diggin' the flares and the front spoiler. I did a tutorial on building, molding, and casting awhile back....or at least how I do it. I've had a lot of good tips from fellow casters here on the forum. I documented a '94 Beretta Pro Mod/Street project from the Frankenstein phase through the mold making phase to the final casting phase if you're interested. I've put the link below. Project goes from about page 63 to 68 on the Bear Creek Dragway thread. Thanks for sharing and posting your stuff Dave! nitroslots.com/thread/2917/bear-creek-dragway-north-texas?page=63Thanks for posting the link Jeff. Been wanting to take another stab at casting and was thinking I’d like to take a look at your tutorial. It’ll be soooo much easier to find now.

Wow Rick, you’ve been extremely busy! Going to your site is like being a kid in a candy shop. So hard to pick one. So many awesome cars. Since my first real car was a 67 Cougar, I can’t resist. Thank you very much for your generosity! IMG_3352 by Bill Le, on Flickr Got you down for the Cougar Bill, I bet you wish you still had that Cougar. The 67 was my favorite. Thank You for your early pick my fellow procrastinator It’s kinda like your first love!

Those bodies are looking sharp. It’s great to have 3D body builders who understand what works best for HO racing.

AW shoes can be a real pain. Trying to retain the launched shoes has a lot to do with why I work on my cars inside a mini cookie sheet. A shallow box could also work, but the magnetic aspect of the cookie sheet is useful for other things.
Filing or grinding the tails of the AW shoes makes it easier to install them, reducing the likelihood of launching the springs.
Dave once shared that he puts a little dab of superglue on the bottom of his springs on Tjets to keep them in place. Probably not the best idea for 4gear or Xtraction cars but perhaps a dab of dielectric grease might help hold them there.
To help keep the brushes from popping out during arm install, I take the idler gear out, get a fingernail up under the front of arm pinion and pull up. This changes the angle of the arm shaft, making it less likely to pop out the rear brush. Sometimes arching the gear plate slightly helps too.
Some guys will drop in the gear plate at an offset angle and rotate it into position. Makes it easier to get the arm in without upsetting the brushes. This technique can take a while to master.
As you noted Tjets types are easier to work on. TFX are similar to Tjets with the added feature of a snap in rear axle.

We are going to switch gears and do a little grudge racing. Ecbill and the Hot Nova and Racin Rob in the Dash Camaro. These two swapped spots all the way down the track the first time so why wouldn't they do a little grudge racing. We are going to do best of 3 swapping lanes each time. The drivers are buckled in and ready for a good time. Racin Rob cuts down the tree but Ecbill is out front at the 60 and 660 There is no telling who's going to take the stripe. These cars are CLOSE! At the finish its going to be Racin Rob with the speed advantage taking the win. Rob takes the first race but we are doing best of 3 so let's bring them back up. They stage the cars and come up on the 2 step here we go. Are we going to 3 or can Racin Rob and the Dash Camaro end it here. Let's find out. Again Rob takes the tree but there's Ecbill ahead at the 60 this time Rob takes the 660. These guys are not giving a inch and stay side by side down the track. At the finish its going to be Racin Rob taking it in 2! Both drivers pick it up from the last race but Racin Rob takes this one. Congratulations Rob on the grudge win. Good run Rob! Thanks for agreeing to the match up. Those 2 put on a good show!

Welcome back race fans for day 3 of racing coverage from the 2024 Ice Drags at ITz raceway. Today we are going to get into the much anticipated DR1 SS dragster class. First up to blaze the track is Gramps Ratz in the Alley Ratz 2 along side him is Ecbill in the Blazin Bill dragsters. Burnouts complete and they switch them to nitro and the cackle begins. Only .0002 separates them at the hit but Ecbill gets to the 660 first. The candles are staying lit on both machines heading into the traps. Who's going to take this one? Ecbill will take the round win in the first ever dr1 ss dragster class. The carnage begins as gramps eats a rear gear and drops off the pace. Wow! That was some ground pounding action there folks! We are going to have to clean the track real quick after the exploding rear gear. We will be right back. I’m in 1st place! Now we just need to call the race for rain, like nascar does!

Superb racing and coverage.
You rookies all put forth some respectable showings!
Sure would like to see a rematch between Hot Nova and RR’s “Late” Pumpkin. Late as in late for Halloween.
