The AW Drag Race Sets do not have ET and MPH. They do have full tree, pro tree and win lights.
HOWEVER... The Summit Racing Equipment race sets for Hot Wheel (unpowered) type cars does have ET and MPH. They do not have a computerized way to do a handicap start.
My thinking is... you could combine the two to get ET, "tree start" and win light. Then (ugh for some of us) do the math. Write down the dial in's before the race, both cars would leave on a "heads up" type green light and then take the ET numbers that come up to calculate who had the best package, who broke out, who would have red-lighted first, etc.
A little math? Yes, Would it work? Yes. If you are using it with the kids, they may end up learning to like math. Heck, some of the old folks might finally learn math too.
Another alternative for those math challenged would be to buy the $120.00 TrackMate dragrace software, grab an old dos computer and hook it up to the AW track. Wouldn't be that hard...

I got the JF set and the NTB........ NTB set is the best value cause you have enough track to make a scale 1/4 and 4 cars!!!
JF,matco, and the snapon give you the dead track section for your shutdown and end caps to protect and clean up your track a bit

Got my NTB for Christmas. My 6 year old son and I have had a blast. We are useing all of the straight pieces. I cut a "dead spot" in each lane in one of the shorter straights to make the shutdown track. And, of course, a satin pillow case at the end.Cars are pretty fast. The NASCARS ran somewhat decent. Will work on them and change bodies to make more dragsters.

for the money its a good set...... what would you like to know? Do you have one? Like to know if the tree functions good, as well as the finish line indicator, or is it cheesy?

Letting the cat out of the bag. I have been working on a timing add-on for the AW, NTB raceway for Slotman55. He brought over his track so I can add reaction time, MPH and ET. I’m not trying to split the tree because that would really complicate things. I’m about half complete with programming the Micro-computer and at this stage of development I can’t estimate the cost yet. It would be a small plastic box with a 4X16 LCD readout that would set next to the track. If there is enough interest in this add-on I would consider producing this for sale. Please post on the site if you would be interested.
