Just a quick update from the shop. Prepping masters today for the second half of their molds 2 Fords and a Dodge. I am also working on a new gear design of the 18T crown. Nothing major just taking a little more off the support collar to lighten the gear.
Bad News my Alps printer developed a printer head error and died. Oh well, that stuff was getting really expensive. Still got my trusty Canon printer.

Gear update, I reworked the 18T bronze crown gear. The support collar is now much shorter but still enough support to keep gear stable. This also lighten the gear a lot.. Here is a pic, getting closer to what I want.

My entries for the race. The Charger and Chevelle with white stripes are N/PS. I had fun building and tuning these. Normally I don't get to do much tuning, but now that I have my little test track I will.

Bronze Gear Update:
First test runs down the track went well. I started at 16 volts, then 22 volts, ended with 27 volts. The top plate is one of my hybrid bonded 12t to plastic cluster gear set ups. The 18T Bronze Gear meshed nicely with only a small snag. I then bumped it off a couple of times and it smoothed out. That was with no lapping compound. More to follow later.

Today's test is with a Door Slammer. I will be running this one with a plastic cluster gear. I want to see how well the plastic holds up against the bronze crown gear with a Mean Green.

Testing is complete, installed a 4.3 ohm motor and ran it 18 volts to 27 volts. This was done with a plastic cluster gear. I have a pic so you can see what the gear looked like after 20 runs. The plastic gear held up pretty good. Next step is to start making gears for sale. They will be $10 each. They are handmade and hand finished so don't get in a hurry. They take a little time to make.

Love the test results, you can put me down for at least 2 of those gears when they are ready. Maybe some of the new wheels and tires too.

Where do you find construction crews like that? Referring to the early posts on this thread.
