Since any copper brush is OK now, has anybody had success with any particular brush in the X-traction ?
Can the crown gear be ......... lol .. (hate to say this) shimmed ?
Would use of an adhessive to hold magnets in place be allowed ?

Matt, does the width really make that much difference? Just wondering, I never really paid attention to that. I just cut the length and flatten them. THAT'S what this is ALL about guys! ;D Good going Matt! Ron (Bondo) Ron, My testing has shown that you never want it wider than the shoe. If possible slightly narrower seems to be best as unlike 1/24 where you are running braid to braid and flat to flat, the 1/64th is a little different. The braid on HO is backed by the flat of the shoe and is being pressed against the radius of the rail which causes it to want to wrap around the rail. If the braid touches the track it will obviously slow the car down. Too narrow and the braid wants to wander side to side if long enough to let it do so. I have been spending more time lately trying to find the right length for the right application which has not shown much variation as of yet.

Now for those that just can't stand being limited, just wait. As for the brushes, shoes and all of the other mods that everyone is asking about, please read the following excerpt from Rick V's 2011 finals coverage. This was from a match race. My Challenger had stock AW brushes and springs, stock AW pickups and springs, no shims in either the magnets or the gears. The arm measured 15.3/15.3/15.4, the magnets were matched and the tires were American line slip on silicones. "The racemaster checks the power at 13.8 VDC, and the drivers stage. The Camaro moves first, he's got 12 thousandths in the bank. But the Challenger is coming on strong. The win light flashes in the right lane – Matt's Mopar is the King of the Street in two straight! Here are the numbers: a .921 e.t. at 13.29 mph for the Challenger, the quickest Muscle Car run ever seen at Lions. Wood runs a respectable 1.021 at 12.74, but it's game over." Matt

Hey Mac, Don't think the bug was ever considered a muscle car. Have seen the discussed for other classes but don't remember which.

Thanks Matt, after no mag shims figured I better ask about the crown before having to take that back out. Didn't figure the glue would fly, but had to ask. You hit it right on the head, "can't stand to be limited" .......... lol.
MOPAR ..... will make a showing before the year is out ..... think I have a good one for the N/FC this fall. Time will tell.

I hate to say this, but I don't remember any Nova or VW that fit an Xtraction or AFX chassis, but I could be wrong.
