Is the 55 Chevy a legal body for this race? It for sure made a rep on the street. The rules say Classes Muscle Car/ Street.
Can you use the Ultra G chassis minus the traction magnet, since no tracation magnets are allowed?

Can you use the Ultra G chassis minus the traction magnet, since no tracation magnets are allowed? The body I'm sure is legal for use in the X-Traction Street Class. As for the Ultra-G X-Traction chassis being used with the traction magnet removed seems likely that would be legal. But I will let 440GTX make the call on that one as he formed this class and knows what his intentions are. I am sure he will have to think about it himself since the Ultra-G X-Traction chassis did not exist at the time the rules were created.

I also think that the ultra-g is fine If the traction magnet is removed. Matt

Just curious when more info on this event will be posted, it is less than 30 days away and I have a lot of questions that might be answered in the event information. Like what voltage will they be raced at? Are AW 4-gear front wheels and tires allowed? Are wheelie bars allowed? (was testing mine @24v and deslotting) Where can I get slip-ons that are as narrow as the wheel? (have 3 different slip-ons all wider than the wheels) Are o-rings allowed to replace front tires?( I did see it says stock but most of mine are hard and fly off the wheels) Are AFX-Tomy bodies legal? (specifically Tomy Camaro Z28) I think that covers most of my questions. Thanks

Lets see if I can give you some help. I don't believe that the 4 gear wheels and tires are legal, the rears are too tall. .485 is the max height on the rear wheels No wheelie bars, they wont be run at that high of a voltage, probably closer to 13-17 volts. Try looking at Slot car Express, Jags, or Lucky Bobs for replacement silicones for the rear. Thats a good question on the o rings for the front, I was wondering that my self, and as far as the body goes, I wold think so, but I'll defer those questions to Ninja or 440GTX.

The 4 gear rears are not. Wheelie bars are not allowed. The width of the rear tire needs to be .25" or less. the purpose of this rule was to keep people from running tires that hung 1/8" outside the body. If you run a tire that was designed for the magna-traction/x-traction you should be ok. A little leeway should be given. I have had good luck with Jel-claw tires. They even have a recess on the back side of the tire to fit over the inner flange of the wheel. The front tires need to be a stock tire. If we start allowing o-rings then the race holder will have to start measuring all of the front tires to make sure that they are a stock height. Tomy Afx bodies are legal as long as you don't alter the mounts inside. I hope this helps, Matt

Just curious, I've got a Cuda that I believe is a Johnny Lighting that has a factory O ring front wheel set up on it, the chrome wheels , would that be legal or not?

Just curious, I've got a Cuda that I believe is a Johnny Lighting that has a factory O ring front wheel set up on it, the chrome wheels , would that be legal or not? Hey guys The King of Street class rules is simple. If you have an older Johnny Lightning X traction with out the round traction magnets OR a newer Auto world chassis with the round traction magnets. They are both legal. You need to remove the round traction magnets from the Auto World for it to be legal. As for the term "STOCK" it must be as it came from the manufacturer. ie: Tires, wheels magnets, brushes, motor etc. The exception being the rear tires can be of a different manufacturer. Also keep in mind the front axle holes in the AW chassis are larger than the JL chassis. If you switch between the two you will notice a lot of side to side slop in the front end. So if you have an older JL with thin tall tires that came with the car it's legal. If you have the newer AW with wide front tires it's legal with the traction magnets removed.

Didn't think we could shim magnets for this class? (altho the rules do not 'specifically' state they can or can't be shimmed). Or did I miss something somewhere? My understanding is stock 'as purchased from manufacturer', other than changing of rear tires and polishing the armature com. Ron (Bondo)

Even though the rules do not specifically say "No Shimming" the intent was there to not allow it. Here's why, I have about 25 X-Traction chassis going back to the first run of JL up to the new AW ultra-g's. In all of those cars I haven't found but a couple that the motor magnets were loose in the pocket and those weren't loose enough to warrant shimming. I feel that the only reason that it would be necessary to shim the magnets is if the faces were sanded to move them in towards the armature. That isn't allowed either. Matt

No shims huh ..... ok, I'll take them out. But I do want to say that nothing was done to magnets other than removal and re-instalation. Of the 2 x-tractions I have (recently aquired), both took shims with no fuss. The magnets in each are slightly different in size, and the smaller of the two are just plain loose in the chassis. Not only can they be felt moving, but also seen. Movment is so pronounced.
Both cars will be heading to race. Just feel like aside from the parts surplus advantage others are bound to have, now I'm really going to be behind the eight-ball. Shouldn't have got two cars if I wanted to compete. Should of got twenty or thirty.
Sorry, I appoligize to all ! just venting, I'll shut-up
