I often think how much more fun would be added to HO Drag Racing if sound was incorporated into the action. The harder you push the trigger the louder the engine roars sort of set up. With different car sounds for different races: Gassers, Funny Cars, Dragsters, Super Stocks, etc. . Unfortunately,.... I think it would be to difficult to do the way model trains do it. But maybe it could be achieved using a separate box with sound chip and necessary electronics; as well as several small speakers placed along the track ? ....Terry

We were talking about same sort of thing today. ...... Peter

Terry, I have already achieved plus some additional features. Problem to this is simple.
#1 Very small market to recover R&D costs.
#2 Would be very expensive to most of the consumers.
This is based on 42 years worth of developing and manufacturing model railroad control systems.
There are other issues also but too involved to discuss
Maybe some day. Cannot rule it out.

What about tying in those Revmatic sound devices used in the grandstand? Don't know about different sounds for different classes.

This would still be a great do it yourself project for those with the know-how to achieve it such as Alan. As for me, I'll have to be contented to put on some background sounds of the drags. As my technical know how is well demonstrated by the tape covering the blinking clock on my Betamax. ....Terry

I was an electronics tech for many years. I will think about how this could be simply and cheaply done. Remember as fast as some of these cars are the sound will mostly be a quick blip of the throttle. As for the NOS picture, it is cool, the only full size race car item I still have is one blue NOS bottle still full and ready to go.

I thought about this a little more (oh oh), Back when we or I was running roundy roundy we were contemplating installing a DCC system much like HO trains do. However, the cost associated and the wiring was a bit too much, imagine trying to tap the track in multiple places... Now the afore mentioned Revamatic will work but like dave632 mentioned as most cars now are running under 1 sec you won't hear much.

dave632, help me out to understand something that I thought I was sure about but have been questioned recently on. ? what is in the blue NoS bottle? it has long been my opinion that it is Nitrous Oxide. being a way of injecting even more OXYGEN into the mixture to allow more fuel, be it gasoline, diesel, alcohol, methane to be combusted. or is it, as I have been recently told, Nitrous Methane in the blue bottle?
