I normally run my race in March. I would like to reserve that month for the Winter Nationals at Bear Creek. Not sure which classes at this time.

2017 Rules. I wanted to put this out there because some of you have been asking. Note that there are 2 divisions;
•Pancake •Inline
These are the chassis rules. Body rules will be posted soon. This is set up so that a host can say we're racing "Pancake - Comp T-Jet" with Gasser body rules, everyone wanting to compete at that race would have to send a T-jet chassis with a Gasser type body since the race host requested it. A race host could also say we're running "Pancake Comp T-Jet" with "open" body rules which gives the racer options to choose whatever body they want to run as long as their chassis falls under the "Pancake Comp" rules.
"Open Pancake" would be racers choice, run anyone of the division chassis.
Revised Rules 12/01/2016
Pancake Division - T-jet
- X-Traction, Magna Traction
- 4 Gear
- Open
Maximum Tire Size - Tjet, MT/XT all builds: .490 - 4 gear Stock, Super Stock: .560 - 4 gear Comp, Super Comp, and Unlimited: unlimited - Inline all builds: unlimited

Looks good to me. I think lexan should be allowed in the unlimited classes however. I will take April for a race, classes and exact dates to be determined. Want to make sure there will be enough time between Jeffs race and mine. Most likely classes will be Pancake comp, Inline comp, + List races. I also like the unlimited Inline if we can get any interest.

I will pledge to a proxy race January 27, 28, 29 on my 1/64 scale 1/8 Wizzard strip using Track Mate DP3000 timing system. classes are Pancake Stock and Pancake Comp. both classes to be run at 20 volts using a 0-30 volt variable, 0-10 OHM variable(set to 10 OHMs) power supply. 2 entries per class per racer please the only body restrictions are to be "drag race inspired" bodies. no indy, formula, can am, dirt track etc ad nauseum .... plastic and resin bodies OK. no diecast or vacuum formed bodies please. let's call this meet SNOW FEST 2017
ENTRIES MUST BE RECEIVED BY JANUARY 27 2017.
I agree with Dave632 that "unlimited" or "outlaw" classes should allow vacuum formed bodies.

As Al stated, "Drag race" or muscle car inspired bodies probably should be requested in all our race information. Most adhere to this policy anyway.
Wheelie bars OK in all classes?

OK I was waiting before I put anything out there. I usually keep quiet and go with the flow, but since thoughts and ideas are flying. Not a big fan of lexan, but maybe that's because I don't have any or a lot of experience with them. Does that apply to the dragsters....particularly FED? I have run several unlimited 4 gear races with no car damages even with my shorter run off. Can't say it would be the same with a lexan body. Are all of the pancake classes now running together? I see Al has his two pancake classes but no chassis designation. If so, how does that work? Anxious to see the body rules to maybe help clear some of my questions up on that.
I have the classes that I would like to run at my race, but I was wanting to see more on this new format first. I'm going to go ahead and put it out there now. Sam I know you are running Doorslammer, but I want to double up on it. Dave I was looking at March 17 and 18.
Winter Nationals classes: -Doorslammer (pancake 4 gear Super Comp) -Super Stock (pancake Tjet Super Stock) -Pro Street Outlaw -Match Racing

I added chassis description underneath Pancake Division. I hope that clears things up a bit Jeff? Yes there will still be chassis specific classes unless a host wants to open it up to racers choice. I apologize on the confusion and should have posted that earlier.
I'll need Al's input on what chassis will be allowed to run.
This would look like - T-jet Comp - T-jet Stock - X-Traction Comp - X-Traction Stock - Pancake Open Comp(Racer's Choice of chassis) - etc.........
Does this make better sense?
On the lexan topic. Say we wanted to run Nostalgia Top Fuel which is an unlimited class, Since it is a designated body class it will have body rules to follow. Thanks for bringing that up Jeff, I overlooked it and need to make a few changes.
I'm happy to answer anymore questions, I know it's a little to take in at the moment but am sure it will be much easier for everyone once we get going.

Dave, I'll be adding a column for wheelie bars.

Trust me......I do have faith Sam. That's why I'm usually quiet and go with it. I got confused when I saw Al's classes posted that way on the spreadsheet. I think my classes are clear then. Thanks you.

In regards to the bodies I to am in favor of drag or muscle car bodies no NASCAR,tank or bus bodies. And lean only in t/f

my race will be open chassis as long as they are pancake armatures and manufactured. given that gears, wheels and tires in all the classes appear to be un-restricted, there would be no reason to disclude any particular chassis. .... let me bring up electrics, particularly motor brushes. .... in Magnatraction and Xtraction chassis coil springs are used to apply pressure on the brush to the commutator. perfectly acceptable. .... . ..... will coil springs alone be considered "brushes"/brush material? .... does unrestricetd indicate that shunts and or braids are permitted? perspiring minds want to know. ... Sam, not picking, just throwing stuff out there that have been issues locally!
my races all allow wheelie bars unless otherwise stated. ... upon further examination of the updated rules, I see there are classes dissallowing wheelie bars. ... ...... I will have to consider this update ..... I have only ever had one class that dissallowed wheelie bars and we don't live race that class anymore. I HIGHLY RECOMMEND wheelie bars in all classes, even if you use a weighted front end.
BODIES .... a little uncommon sense here I think. lamborghinis and ferraris might race occasionally in drag events, but are not mainstream or expected. as Dave pointed out, street style cars are OK. but I don't care for seeing "exotic" bodies. to go a step further, Vipers are pretty rare, but I see no reason to dissallow.
lexan, in particular is very strong and can take one heck of a hit. witness NASCAR only allows lexan windows. detailing them is not altogether easy. most folks paint them on the inside to preserve the paint job in collision occurences. other vacuum material may not be as strong and styrene sheet is a popular material for vacuum forming bodies. I have crashed outlaw inline with lexan body at over 100 MPH and all that happened to the body was some flaked off paint from the flex.
regarding rules, there is plenty of time to tweak, so I encourage everyone to state their opinion AND PREFERENCES.
just like a political election .... if you do not vote, you should not complain later.

All due respect Al, but I don't see how allowing all pancake chassis types to race together is going to work. I mean a similarly built Tjet chassis is not going to run the same as a 4 gear or an Xtraction. In the end it is up to the racer as to what chassis they want to build. But if I wanted to have a chance at winning I wouldn't run a 4 gear, so why even allow it? Instead of apples to apples it would be like apples to pears. It's your event so it really doesn't matter what I think. Maybe I will learn something here. As far as lexan...I personally won't be running any lexan bodies here.
