Well tonights the first night with out the usa cars, some secret testing was done and the car building dept had a loss and a win in prepping some old cars to go fast and slower. Ron the train guy and pony boy who had other family commitments failed to attend the final shake down at sandfly testing at 1000 ft, i knew that those extra sensors would come in handy. So a bit of fettling saw the cars ready to ship. Kiwi Dave did the honors and took our steads back over the hill for wrapping and postage, its in the hands of the starter now, cant wait. So till tomorrow from Impala raceway.

A wet and wild night to go racing, rain coats were the order of the night even inside where it was raining Lion Reds, the sandfly crew took this situation in hand and had a red fest even to the point of having a sleep and tea and biscuits on the start line to earn another drink. New comers to racing Jungle Jim the second and an old Kiwi Dave roadster, this is what happens when you need to find cars to make up the fields. Yes thats water on the race box. The kiwi Dave car came to do some shopping and never worried the competition, how ever the Jungle Jim held his head high and earned a valuable Chicken Dinner. Another new comer the Parts Plus top fueler, this car should have been left at home, dog slow and ran against the Mac's Tools in first round of competition, so i gave it to Ron to race, big mistaka to maka, the Mac's tools frightened by this other team car left early and went home with no points. The Parts Plus car just to rub it in, got a 4th. So to other results, the Ghost went slow in the final and picked up a 2nd, the 52 chev 3rd, and the inline Cuda managed another Chicken dinner. There were 7 drivers battling the elements and the red mist, an excellent nights racing, most of the cars in the fields were oh so very slow, so we should see some improvement by next week at Mustang Alley.

So yes its still raining, i think we should be racing boats. Never mind we are at the home of all things pony tonight, Mustang Alley, Paul will have the heater going along with a lot of ....... Did some prep last night, have to get these new cars up to speed, managed to make the Parts plus top fueler go faster, not so much for the mac's tools, Tried to get the new jungle jim further ahead only to go slower. Never mind we are all fighting due to lack of fast cars. Till tomorrow.

That's been one heck of a rain fall over there. Going to need higher ground if that keeps up.

So well yes, that was a nights racing at Mustang Alley. Full of danger, slow cars, even slower cars, missed fields and just the right amount of race fuel. After giving the team the tools to do the job in top fuel i decided points were more important in nostalgia so did a bit of chassis swapping whilst the crew weren't watching, did this before i left home tho. The calm office of the track promotor, perhaps he had started to sniff the race fuel too early. Qualifying went well with top tq in nostalgia, top fuel and inline, some of the cars only came to shop at the trade stalls looking for lost horse power, the fresh out of the box nostalgia army car limped its way past the car park got to the first concession stand and stayed there. The gtx funny car and Parts Plus top fueler must have found some skirt because they were well off the pace. Alan Wills was having none of that, unlike his brother camp mother, or should we say the peg bandit. On to the all important racing, there was quite a few very close races including a tie, cant remember who won that one. The crown in inline got beat by mats mopar and paid the price, being rear ended by the fast finishing sandfly car. Ok Jungle Jim took the chicken dinner in nostalgia, The 52 Chev, chicken dinner in truck, The Cuda chicken dinner in inline, the ghost lost the final in pro- mod due to a red light and the Mac's Tools top fueler managed a 3rd following a red light in the second round. Next week see's us back at home base, till then.

Guess what, it's not raining, we have had a few days of almost sunshine, first day of spring here so bring it on. Other stuff in the news, IT'S RACE NIGHT, thats right, racing at Sandfly Alley, have done no prep, been too busy fixing cuckoo clock and tasting race fuel. Never mind should be a good night, till tomorrow.

Well what a nights racing, 6 drivers made the effort to show up and race. With smaller class fields with our usa cars away there were a few classes very low on cars. This made for some intense racing. The sandfly crew did and awesome job in qualifying with Jungle Jim, Cuda and Ghost all recording tq's. Some random shots from the track. Who's got a good eye, whats the oldest item on the shelf, no prize for the winner. Rocker cover racer, swap meet find. On to the racing, ole pony boy broke the cherry with his first red light in a long while, whilst Matt was on a crusade to see how many Kiwi Largers he could drink. Pro mod action, the altered's were at it again, The panty raid and Ron's red altered at the line. Ok to the results 4th's went to the Panty Raid pro mod, Willies in gasser. 3rds went to 52 chev in truck and Parts Plus in top fuel. 2nds went to The Crown in inline and Mac's tools in top fuel. Chicken dinners went to, Jungle Jim in nostalgia, Cuda in inline and the Ghost in Pro Mod. Next week see's us back at camp mothers Moonshine park.

Ok pilgrims, here's what happened, Tq's to the Jungle Jim, Mac's tools and i think the Ghost. An epic nights racing and entertainment, the sandfly crew had a team of 12 cars racing most of them slow. Had issues with the GTX funny car de-slotting at the start may require the other traction magnet put back in or a wheelie bar. One of the advantages of having a real steel hot rod is that camp mothers losing car has something to hold on to after being shown how to win by the Jungle Jim car. Not such a good night for the sandfly drivers, the red mist came down again and Mac's took full advantage and left early for no points again, when will he learn. New car on the track just to make up numbers was the Nash pro-stock car, never even bothered the dust on the side of the track, so we have a few motors needing attention before next week, the gtx, nash, parts plus and the lure if i can be bothered. To the results, microphone at the ready, in first place with chicken dinners awaiting, see i said dinners, this means more than 1, went to the ever-improving Jungle Jim in nostalgia and the ever-reliable Cuda in inline. Chips and gravy went to the ghost and the 52 chev. Next week see's us back at impala raceway, so till then.
