Well let's just say things didn't go according to plan. Racing was held at the temporary 1000ft lighting park. Looking at the qualifying times against the other rattle track these were fairly close. As i forgot to grab a pic of the race book i have no idea of where we ended up in qf. Just a random pic of Matts track. Matts little baby. So on to the racing, was not sure which lane to pick so went with the old one, take the lane nearest to the wall. With no fear i accepted the first red light award in my first race of the night with the cuda. There seems to be a common thread here, with the ice man having a well-earned red light as well. So things were progressing through the night when this happened, truck racing at its best, with the ice man and myself. Another pic of the track. So to the results, all i can say is i went home hungry, all the cars i had in finals were beaten, so there were a few 2nds and 3rds and 4ths, never mind next week sees us miss sandfly alley and moonshine park to race at the ice cave, see you there.

To the ice cave we went, full of joy and the promise of good results, fine company and heaps of race fuel. Wake up your dreaming, oh ok, some will say its spring and nearly summer to me its just still s**te weather, but never mind yes the company was great, the race fuel was all gone when i left, there were some stories told and watching matt the crump get the first of many red light prizes Qualifying went well with the cuda, ghost, and mac's taking the honors. Matt seen here under my watchful eye receiving the one and only Lion red. Off to the races we went, pony boy was having a few issues with his car doing burnouts on the start line and throwing Tires into the crowd and on the floor As you can see im very helpful at keeping a man down where he belongs. The sand fly crew did ok in eliminations making a few finals, so the pressure was on, following on from last week when we went home hungry. on the other side of the fence, lawn mower man Alan was having none of that, you can see all the out first round cars stacked in the pit box awaiting the ride home. Ok to the results as far as i can remember. 3rds went to Scribble in nostalgia, gtx in funny car, 52 chev in truck, 2nds went to jungle jim cant remember who else. Chicken dinners to the cuda in inline, ghost in pro mod. were not finished yet.... The top fuel final, with both optima (pony boy) and mac's tools equal on points it was all to play for, pride, bragging rites, the points lead. and this happens. During the night the ice cave has been plagued with electrical issues with the slot dragon resetting after a start and before the finish, during the warmup with the top fuelers it was acting up again, but not to be deigned we pressed on to the start, and away went pony boy whilst the mac's tools car limped away from the start and only just managed to finish, helped along with lots of encouragement from the crowd. But i wasn't concerned, out of the corner of my eye i saw a red dot in pony boys lane, a big fat red light, winner winner chicken dinner to the mac's tools car. After the meet and with closer inspection one of the shoe springs had made an escape for the hills, a bloody good nights entertainment had by all. Next week sees the last race night at Mustang ally, cant wait as usual.

So here we go again its race night, and its been raining again. Got sidetracked by the new class for next year, tin top non magnatraction green arm mini class, thats a hot wheels mini body on an early afx 3 gear chassis with a green arm, no traction magnets, wheelie bars allowed. basicly the same class kiwi dave i ran a challenge cup with but with resin bodies.
Thought i should at least run the mac's tools car to make sure it was still on point, wrong slow as a donkey. spent the next 2 hours trying to find the missing tenth and gave up. will swap a faster chassis under it for tonights race. Matt the crump wont be racing as he and mrs crump have gone to duce days with the red 32 roadster. Covid has struck the lawn mower residence so not sure if he's a goer or not, till tomorrow.

Well there you have it, the last nights racing for the year at the ole rattle track, which lived up to its name. After last nights frantic attempt to fix the mac's tools car, a chassis swap was carried out by the team, removing jungle jim's chassis to the top fueler, a few test hits at sandfly alley confirmed it was ok to race, next was to swap scribble into jungle jim, so scribble ended up with the slow chassis. Off to the races we went. With no mat and the lawn mower man we were down quite a few cars so the evening should have been a quick one, this meant some classes were not run, inline, outlaw and gasser i think. Qualifying, thats another story, Mac's tools and the ghost kept the flag flying. Pony boy seen here being helped by me to repair a dead section of track, this was one of the main reasons we moved to custom tracks, no joins in the power rails. traced the fault to a contact not doing its job. never mind repairs carried out and racing resumed. Ron the train guy seen here with the one and only red light drink of the night, this must have been to much for him as this happened... You picked a fine time to leave me, chair leg, lucky ron was not injured so racing carried on. The vibe in the pits was electric with everyone talking up the anticipated top fuel clash between the optima and mac's tools cars, this just about never happened because guess what during elimination mac's came up against ron the train guy and you can guess what happened, a double red light, i held my breath the crowd went deathly quiet, the announcers voice came over the speakers mac's tools went through, thanks to a bigger red light from ron. Back to the rest of the racing, the sandfly drivers only managed to squeeze a win from the ghost as the inlines weren't running, most class winners have already been set for the year so no need to worry about points. The time has come to speak of many things, but first some frantic activity in the pits, the crowd has rushed to the fence line in anticipation of the final race of the year at mustang alley. This must mean its top fuel final time, with mac's tools with a 1 point advantage over optima, what will happen. Annd there offff, a stunned silent crowd erupts and a big ole red light flashes in the mac's tools lane giving the win to optima, and were back on even points for the grand finale next week at sandfly alley. Till then, oh yes there will be hours of testing and fettling before then. .

Well dont you know it, the end of the year has arrived, the sandfly crew have been at it all week to make sure everything is in order. We did get somewhat sidetracked with these projects for next racing season. Just a bit of color to add and some fettling and were good to go. Till tomorrow.

Boy what a year it has been, the roller coaster ride of getting cars to perform each week is endless. To the racing, there was a small hold up with a track issue it would seem i had switched the switches on the lane controller which made both lanes live with one controller or the other, so switched the switch back and we were in business. After a meeting with the sandfly drivers it was decided to give the new cars a run just to see how they liked it, some were not so good. Qualifying was average with the willies vintage gas being the only tq. A few made it to second on the list. Due to only 3 cars entered the inlines were scratched again. Such was the pressure that the ice man was the first victim of the nasty shot bucket. Fourteen red lights were recorded, only one to sandfly. Eliminations were keenly fought, and some surprise results followed. The sandfly cars were performing ok with a few cars going through to the final's rounds. To the anticipated top fuel clash, well heres the thing Mac's tools came up against Matts Farts Plus, the lights went green, and we were off to the finish, the Mac's tools car through the finish first, but wait the win light is on for the Farts car, WTF, a look at the reaction time and Mac's was first out, with a quicker et and still lost, WTF again some strong words were said out side and the team owner was not a happy camper. This gifted the top fuel point lead to pony boys optima. The Mac's car got an undeserved 3rd. At the end of the meet, prizes were given to those who won classes, sandfly picked up inline and pro mod. So thats a rap till next year.

Its hard to believe no racing tonight, was at a loss last night no tuning or track prep, what are we going to do. This is what pony boy did on the weekend, helped by the ice man and myself at Masterton, even had a visit from kiwi Dave at the track. Due to a couple of issues he missed out on qualifying on Saturday, so this was a free run-on Sunday.
