Well that was that, only pony boy was missing still with the man flu. 

Checked the track before kick off and found the yellow lane was way off target, re-sanded the rails still no better. Swapped the new hand controllers over and boom bang on the money, but now the blue lane was no good, so to the rescue, the old pama hand controllers and times were within a 0.002 of each other. Dodged a bullet there.

All racers were handed a lovely Ranfurly Draft for turning up. Always a treat. 

So to the ever important qualifying runs.  With the track now running as it should the sandfly drivers managed tq in nostalgia with jungle jim, truck with the f100, funny car with catch me and vintage gas with the willies.

To the racing, i had set up an old vid camera to see how it went and apart from all the swearing and blotchy pic it was rubbish, so this will need more work.

14 red lights were recorded and guess who was among them, thats right jungle jim and the mac's tools car, bugger.

The Willies vintage gasser posted a new record and wiped pony boys record from the board with a blistering 1.090 @ 18v over the 1/4 mile.



As can be seen here im a very happy chap.

Well lets just say perhaps a gin before racing may not be a good idea, thought i was on a train ride to nowhere.

Qualifying was rushed as i was late as usual, never mind, camp mother had both heaters going and i can still taste the coldness.

Meanwhile the drinks were going down a treat.

So racing didnt start as well as i had hoped, more on that later, well to be truthful i would have rather stayed at home as one of my boys was visiting.

There were a few stories told again that pony boy missed last week.

Things were going great untill we got to top fuel eliminations, and every one was talking about how cold it must have just got because the fuelers were slow, Matt the crump or should i say waverly matt spotted the problem and said nothing, camp mother knew something was wrong and tried to cover his tracks, then i spotted it, he is seen here hiding the awful truth.



Unseen behind him are the power packs still on 20 volts.

Never mind we all make mistakes.



Ron the train guy came to the rescue with a well timed snack break of lemon muffins and crackers with cheese.

ok you asked for it, to the racing, nothing to see here and it could have been absolutely nothing.

OFR went to, vega in pro stock, model A in tin top, willies in t jet, going for a record haul here, willies in vintage gas, f100 in truck, still a few of these made the semis.

And a win in nostalgia for the scribble against pony boy. What a relief.

So back out into the rain to head home. Next week we are back at the ice cave, all going well with new controllers and wiring.

Yes well its still raining, and now its blowing as well, never mind we are at the ice cave tonight so the heaters will be going flat out, the sparkie was in the cave last week end so hopefully the track is a goer, till tomorrow........
