Rick the detail is outstanding on those bodies. Does any residual texture sand easily? I'm not sure how your printing material compares to the resins we use.

Jeff depending on what resin I use they all sand a little different and how long I cure them with the UV light. Like I said once I get a body scaled to what ever chassis then I’ll print it at a different angle with thinner layers. And it will be almost good enough to prime maybe one coat and little sanding.Different angle and a thinner layer takes about twice as long to print. Say 3 hours to 6 or more. And if the print fails thats a lot of wasted time. I want to make castings of the good prints ? I’m going to mount some 3D bodies and make some hits on the Top End shutdown and see if they survive ? The resin is UV cured and it’s going to take the place of a lot of body filler on customizing bodies. I’ve been playing around by applying the resin with a paint brush then curing it with a UV flashlight. It’s really easy to work with in 10 seconds and it’s ready for another coat, sanding or primer. And it’s good for joining parts. All still learning and experimenting. I’ll post some more pictures of other bodies and how the resin works on customizing.

Rick, great detail. I am in for one pf each when production starts please. I think you have discovered a great way to make masters for casting.

I'm pretty ignorant when it comes to 3D printing. But I do know that anything CG usually comes with a steep learning curve. Sounds like you're getting it all worked out. I'm excited to see what the end result will be so keep us updated please. You've always got the cool toys!

I figured since there's break in the racing I'd share some of the 3D stuff I've been goofing around with. Like always I got way to much that I want to do and don't finish nothing. This is a Dragster mounted on a Jag DR-1 I was trying to get done for Summer Slam. I got some paint on it and I'll post pics when it's done. Never got to play with the DR-1's until Sam 's races and found there a perfect chassis for a front engine dragster. I have a couple of different ones I'm working on. Thought I would share my first attempts at 3D scanning. I got the scanner awhile back but been busy figuring out the 3D printing. Untitled by rick williamson, on Flickr First was a Jungle Pam figure to go with a Jungle Vega. She came in a 1/24 Revell kit with Jungle Jim which he will be scanned in the future. She came out OK but think I can make her better. I got some ideas for some other Back Up Girls. Untitled by rick williamson, on Flickr My first body was a 1/64 Action Monza. Bodies are harder cuz you have to scan underneath too. It has some flaws but think I'll be able to do better ? I have a crap load of 1/24 and 1/16th bodies and parts to scan if I can get it figured out ? Untitled by rick williamson, on Flickr Did this nostalgia driver thinking it wasn't going to come out so I didn't put his arms on. I've got a bunch of different drivers and helmets too. Untitled by rick williamson, on Flickr Untitled by rick williamson, on Flickr Then I went and tried something way over my capabilities and I got something that I was able to print. I scaled it down to 2 inches tall and it came out way better than I thought. Still think I can do better ? I hope. I'll share some new bodies I've been making next.

I'm always dazzled when I get into this thread Rick! You are an artist for sure and we are lucky to have you here! I'm diggin' the Wally Trophy! Thanks for posting and I can't wait to see what you and Eagle come up with next.
