Some of the old color TVs used to pull 500 watts and you could use them as a spare heater. Monthly electric bills would double in some cases.

Old tube tester. Never saw one like that. By about the early 80s all sets were solid state, except for the picture tube which lasted into the 2000s. 35" sets weighed a lot.

I just got the drc sketch uploaded to the uno. Sometimes it helps if you walk away for awhile. Tomorrow i will set up some sensors on a breadboard and do some testing. I stll have to get my cars ready though and that is my first priority.

It has been a productive afternoon. I was able to interface my home pc win 10 with adruino and the sensors. Then I was able to do the same with my old slow windows 7 laptop. The biggest problem with my laptop was getting the drivers installed. I used a breadboard with 4 sensors to simulate start,60,660,finish. I am using ldr's (opto resistors). Using my finger to wave across them , worked fine with just room light. I will be using homemade lightbars on the track to insure uniformity and avoid shadows.

Question to the 1000' dragstrip owners we have here. If possible could you share your sensors spacing from start line to specific sensor.
I ask with good intentions, im not being lazy... doing the homework on deciding placement i have realized there are just to many variables and just reasons why the things JUST ARE.
If we have more of us closer on measurement I'd rather stay with the majority on sensor placement, including for speed trap. That way maybe its easier to judge our cars performance.
1000' from what I see is 15 .7 and a half inch. I think most of us are calling it 15.7. Im perfectly fine with that. I seen two guys arguing about where to put the 60' mark. I can't believe i wasted that much of my life instead of just asking in here...
Thank you to those who can share. It not only helps me and Dynomike on our adventure but any that follow this in the future planning on setting up a track... I see gnome is about to put us to shame but maybe the sensors measurement can help us all .... cheers. Sam / Skillet

The drivers are driving me nuts Mike lol. Did you change that part in the writing they were talking about Are you talking about the drivers or the sketch? The sketch was what I had to change , just as was suggested on the slot forum, befoe i could upload it to the arduino. The drivers are part of the pc software. If you have windows 10, they should already be there and recognize the adruino when you plug it in.

My laptop is windows 7 and does not have the drivers or recognize the adruino . I had to go to the arduino website and download and install the drivers. My laptop apparently is 32 bit, so would not work with the current driver install. They have earlier versions on there website, and i had to try several before i found one that would work.

I see thats the difference i believe in the arduino uno and mega I think. Besides just having more plugs. The arduino mega has a driver built in. I just happen to have a driver called ch34 in my mega. That's the driver drc doesn't like. Ill get back to mine tomorrow and see what I figure out.

Sam / Skillet 60' = 11.25" 330' = 61.88" 660' = 123.75" Finish = 187.5" This is where I put mine, pretty sure it corresponds with what dynomike posted.
