soliciting ideas about a multi track seasonal point series. it seems the two race series which is about to conclude at Jeff's race is popular. please address your desires and ideas!
I'll throw out an example ..... continue the gasser class. define points. one entry per racer, would need to be the same car throughout the season. allow a one race drop, meaning if someone cannot attend all the points races they won't be left behind because all those that DO attend every race will have to drop one race.
not every event has to include the point series. I recognize that the List races allows for everyone to get a chance, but points racing also allows a different type of competition.
let's hear from everyone, including those who don't care to points race or just don't care at all. share how you think points should be awarded. this is an opportunity for everyone to opinionate without judgement.
state your desires about what you prefer.
this is not to challenge the status quo, it is to determine if there is interest in expanding our formats.
I will be happy to administer and be responsible for keeping track of the points and events, unless someone else is preferred by the majority.
let's have an open, no time limit, discussion !

The list cars are my favorite. You get to meet up and race with the familiar cars. Like going to a show to see grave digger...here comes the nashty nash pulling in its going to be a good show.
I thought the same as you with the gasser event Al. I thought it was neat for Jeff to continue it over to his place. With that I thought it would be nice if it was at least 3 races long or more. Gives you a chance to run on different tracks. I guess the main votes we need to here from are the race host. Im steadily working on my track to get it up to standard for an event.
I'd agree to 1 car per racer. With the list cars that's 3 dedicated cars going in. If we start going over that it could get overwhelming for some people. Also with more of us wanting to put on a race we will eventually have more races per year.
If we stay with the gasser body were keeping a part of history alive so im in for that body group.
I would really like to see this go under gasser tjet super comp. We could always add no timing adjustments for this race that way people winding and people buying are still on the same playing feild.
Since our list cars are at 20v I would say do 20v here also. Easier on a host just to set 20v and run 3 events. Just over here messing around i forget to change the volt sometimes. What the heck...oh I forgot to crank it up.
I'd also like to see the same body ran for the series. If for any reason it had to be changed there's points taken off.
I think after we see how many would be interested and see some ideas we could figure more on how to do the point system.

I like that idea. 1 car per racer. you change body loose points. best 5out of 6. If race masters want to host. 1st round winner gets 1 point.2nd round 2 points, so on and so on. winner gets 5 bonus points. More discussion needed for i am not a race master , only a racer. Maybe this is a dash 4 lam build.

I'd be in favor of a year long "T-Jet Gasser" series. With the same current NTRA rules for that class.
Possibly: - TQ points
- Semi Final points - Finals points - Winner points Yes. Lose points if you change body or change appearance of it in a major way. Major = paint job color, car name, etc..
This would be convenient for the Proxy hosts that prefer to not race their own cars at their own event. Could be a headache for the one keeping track of the points.
I agree it should be left to the discretion of the Proxy race host to run or not run the event. Top QT In the Semi Finals In the Finals
Top Eliminator . . . and possibly low ET of that series meet.
That would be fine with me . . . or . . . the capability of each Race Master to update the points on the main list, at the end of the event they hosted.
Thanks for posting this Al! T-Jet Gassers are my favorite car to build so I'm definitely prejudice about the potential of this .

What............. you're asking for my 2 cents again? You'll be sorry, it is an interesting concept, I believe a few years back they kept points. Points wise drop the worse placement for a car whether they showed up or not. Now it's time to step on some toes .......Build wise I'm in favor of a stock build it allows more participation. As it has been stated several times in the past multiple classes for multiple levels for people of different building ability. The build is basically the PSO as a tjet to redundant same level of ability to build.

Sjracer has a valid point and I am going to expand on that a little bit. He said the Tjet Gasser (which is my second favorite Class) is basically the same build as the List cars....well it is actually the exact same build. So that would make 3 Series Classes (the Lists are Series races without the points)...all the same build...and all Pancake. I am a Pancake guy so I'm good, but it would be nice to do an Inline Series. Something to think about?? My preference for the Class would be Super Stock or Comp. Stock now restricts us to certain chassis whereas Super Stock opens up the chassis and the available parts. My favorite Inline Class is Comp but there are parts that have to be purchased and not everyone is able to.....my 10 cents worth...... This has a lot of potential but it is going to be more work for the Racemasters. They will be impacted the most here. I am willing to do what I need to at my events if we can agree on something. I'm with Skillet when he said the List races are a favorite. I enjoy seeing the cars show up...they each develope their own identity along with the builders. The Lists have been a big success so should some Series racing. Good stuff here!

I think a Gasser season series would be awesome. While it is basicly the same as the pso list, it opens up the class to more participants. Some of us are trying to make the PSO list without any success. Would be a competetive class for sure. Keep the discussion going!

Good call Al on this points series thing. I always thought something like this would be fun. My thoughts is a class that’s cost effective a fairly easy build like Sjracer said and low maintenance to get more racers involved and most of all be competitive. But like Jeff said it’s up to the Racemasters if they want the extra burden ? All that said I think a Tjet Gasser series would be way cool. Gasser Wars !!

I'd just like to be able to wind my own arm. I'm new at it and may not even be good at it. But there is a joy to see it work.
If I just put new wire on it makes it a custom wind? I would think a custom wind would be a double wind , timing adjustments or winding the wire any way besides side to side would be custom.
I like to be cheap when possible. Even when it takes more time than it's probably worth. I have a roll of wire I can wind over a 100 arms with. That's a whole lot cheaper than buying arms. Worth it or not ,time wise is another question.
The arms I've been practicing on are around 5.3 ohm when done. I use the same chassie to test them in. Autoworld 3gear stock only the arm changed.
In the same chassie, I have tried the mean greens out that I have. They measure in the 5.8ohm range.
All of the arms in that chassie ran in .8's et on my track. 1000ft 18v.
If we say use 37, 38, or 39awg and must ohm 5. No custom wrapping (such as double wind) no custom timing. I don't see why we couldn't.
This place to me seems to be built on honesty. I would put the faith on to another racer that they are staying in the rules. It's the same as trusting they are staying above the 5 ohm on a purchased arm.
That is why I like super comp. Not for the magnets or a tricked out triple wrap or something. I'm just cheap.
I understand people that have never tried are probably thinking no way. All I can tell you is there is no magic. You take a piece of wire and literally wrap it around...and around...and around...

We did this several years ago and it was a blast. I like the idea. As far as which class, I like Inlines Super Stock or Comp would be good class.

good morning folks, i like the idea of a points series and also think comp t jet gasser would be a good class. in regards to that i think we should put thought into what Sam had to say about winding and custom winding .i strongly agree with him a strait single wind of 37,38,39,or 40 should be allowed in comp at 5 ohm ,i don't have a single mean green that isn't damaged and to fix it would break the rules. another thought i had was to run a points series in honer of MAC and run the same class him and his other mates were running sounds like an ezey build and lots of fun and would definintley be a tunners game.

Rambling thoughts:
Points series sounds like fun.
Honoring Mac by naming the series after him is a super idea. We could use his name, nickname or username.
I tend to lean towards gassers too. Gnome’s idea to run a class like Mac was racing has merit as well. How about an Afx/MT class with gasser bodies?
If you want to go inline, how about Tjet gasser bodies on Jag TR3 chassis built to stock or SS rules?

Additional random thought:
The Southeast Gassers “SEGA” has been running FX or AFX cars in exhibition runs with the intent of possible addition to their events. The cars are injected alcohol cars running vintage gasser like bodies. Many were altered wheelbase econo and mid size cars, the predecessors of funny cars.
Maybe that type of body on Afx/MT chassis’s would make for a good series.

guys, I like what I am seeing. yes, this is all good. sharing ideas and desires. the best way to find something most of us can agree on (hopefully all of us) to possibly expand our joy.
I respect that this could put a further burden on Race Masters/Hosts and it has been acknowledged that not all events have to include a points series race.
in response to the notion that there already a class, in List racing, the points series would allow all who want to participate. I like the List racing for what it represents. but if only the top ten ever get to race , aside from the Shark Pool, some folks never get to compete.
we nearly always race every car that enters in our eliminations so that every entry gets Qualifying times and at least one pass in eliminations. that is so much different than List Racing procedures.
please keep the ideas, suggestions and desires coming

It also sounds like the Tjet Gasser is the popular Class at least at this point. List racing is a totally different format and that was the intent.
