🤔 21 days count Down to 🏁 Race day #1 I'm not ready....lol. I just got my new Tyco 440X2 yesterday. I did not realize this, but I ordered a 440X2 which turned out to be the narrow chassis. The chassis that I already had is a wide pan. I'm learning. The last Tyco that I had and still have is the Version 1 Curve Hugger HP7 I think it was. Since then it has been G Plus or Super G Plus. I have no parts so I'm just going to work with what I have and have fun. Working on potentially running some new 3D bodies from Eagle Racing. We will see how that works out. Cool event to be able to do this! Thanks Dave!

Fin, my work bench looks like that. Jeff, some of those narrow 440s run quite well. Stock class for this race is all stock, including stock gearing. Only tires have a little leeway. Making some cast bodies for Tyco's is a good idea, they have some great ones.

Umm. What the heck is a Tyco?
I am still going to school for Tjets.
I should go on a rummage/rampage and see what I have kicking around.

I noticed several of the Tjets were shying away from one perticular car. This is what was apparently causing the trouble. It needs to be tested to see if or how it runs. I'm not exactly sure what it is... besides being a Vette.

I'm no Tyco expert by any measure, but that appears to be a 440-X2 Hot Wheels flavored Vette.

Correct, that's a 440X2. Tyco has been around since the beginning of the HO slot car craze, starting around the late 60s. They made HO trains before that and continued to make the trains long after that. They were a lot quicker than the T jets, but the AFX cars of the early 70s closed the gap. As can be seen by the .44 @ 32.9 mph run by the 2.8 ohm 440 chassis car it doesn't take too much to make them run very well.

I actually found several 440x2's. I bought them in a living estate sale, and was not sure what I had. I hope to be better prepared for the next Tyco race. Living in Canada means very slow, or very expensive shipping. Good luck to everyone that's racing!!! Ken

Both Dash and Lucky Bob's, where I got the rims are out of the Milwaukee area. Hopefully they would ship to Canada.

Yes, AFX .474s work well. Send the cars to the race, just mention you need tires, I will have some tires that will fit.

Dave,
Thank you very kindly. A host goes through enough just to host a race, and should not have to provide tires. (babysitting)
It just cost me $100 in shipping costs for Jeff's race because I was late. It's usually around $50 per race provided that I'm ready at least 3 to 4-weeks before a race date. (Welcome to Canada)
Looking at EcBill's cars, (specifically the blue Corvette just like mine) I'm clearly not prepared for this race. I also found that the pinion skips on the Vette. Maybe push the wheel on a little further to remove end play? I also need to install wheelie bars. Bills wheelie bars look the best to me so far. Thanks for the inspiration Bill!
Anyways. I'm going to put the $50 shipping money into a parts order so these things don't sneak up on me in the future. I would like to speak with Bill and find out what wheels/tires he's using. They look slick. A good place to use that handy gift certificate at Lucky Bob's. Thanks again for that too.
Thank you for hosting this race Dave. I apologize that I can't attend this one. Hopefully there will be another.

Early arrival, first into the pits, The Jet and Leo the Lion. Crazinski, sorry to hear you can't make it, but I understand. Hopefully you can make the next one. 100 for shipping is very steep. I thought the US and Canada were buddies, not when it comes to shipping, I guess. Jet and Lion

Thanks a million Bill. Take your time. You've already given me some good homework to do. I have shopping carts to fill.
