Ok I have an Idea for a slot car event to be held at one of the tracks. AFX 4 gear chassis Nostalgia Funny Cars. as far as rules I would like to see if we could keep it Pretty much stock, maybe allow Braids on the shoes, shim the magnets, and Shunt Wires, and the maybe leave everything else alone. Does anyone know if the Autoworld AFX 4 gears are faster or the same as the old one?? we could work that out Later. But i would like to know and see if there is enough interest in having Sam or someone Hold this event maybe sometime this summer..and I even have a title for the Event......"Funny Car Summer Nationals"(Remember that cool Movie) So lets hear it from people who would race this event and ideas as well.
Mopar City Dragway slot cars inc track 15' 2" timed 4' shutdown with dynamic breaks 13.8v 10a power supply per lane rails are .080" dia. and .012" high timing is by TrackMate basic system.

When I got some of the new 4 Gear cars I was hoping it would have a new faster arm and better magnets. I was dissapointed in the way mine ran....My T Jet Stock cars will outrun them. They I'm sure could be modifyed to run fast just no intrest in them till now.

But I thought i saw some on flea bay that had dual Neo magnets and they were fast?? Still if we can allow some mods on the new chassis if people choose to use those and or combine the NOS 4 gear's somehow to get them even. But i had heard a few pwople say they were fast!!! But what do you think of the idea of running this event?? its some thing different and they are not that much cost wise. alos i just check the new ones on flea bay,and they say 4 gear ultra g chassis are these the same???becasue thye say very fast out of the box.

Mine didn't have Neo Magnets or any other after Market Parts on them. I'm sure you can make them screamers if you play around a bit.
I should say I am a Big supporter of Auto World, I buy their cars constantly, I think they are the #1 contributer to the T Jet hobby right now. and the newly released set of bodys/paint jobs are the coolest ever.
There are some some cool bodies in 4 Gear anyone else interested.

Really, because autoworlds 4 gear chassis are now made with two neo dot traction magents on the bottom of them, and i hear they are pretty fast, that why i was wondering if we can get this event to happened, and i hear if you can get the blue motor magnets they make the car really fast. so are you in for this event ?? Come guys out there lets hear your opinion on havingthis event. Kdog iam too a big supporter of Autoworld and i would like to think a few of my ideas that i have talked with Tom Lowe have came to life,I mentioned to him alittle over a year ago about doing a HO dragstrip,he came back and was excited about the idea. I hear by theway that the John and Ashley Force set will just have a win light ,but they are talking about maybe doing a deluxe Version that will have Speed and ET's. and they are still working on the gas powered Vega Funny Car and are getting closer to its release.

My AW Bus runs anywhere from .92's to 1.00 at around 13mph on our track. That is stock out of the box. I think braids would be a good idea and guess that it would pick up a tenth or two. A Funny Car Summer Nationals sounds good. I will not be able to hold the event but will build a car and race if a event is put together.

Sam, what voltage do you run the bus on? We run the x-tractions on 13.8v and the fast ones are running in the 1.0's stock.

I'll have to do some checking but I might be able to hold a F/C race here this summer. If I do what would you all think about running the stockers also? Since the stockers are a new class it might be nice to get a few extra runs on them before the points race at Rick's this fall.

I ran my wife,s out of the box S' cool bus at T.S.S yesturday Fastest was a 11.572 ,11.44 Mph slowest was 11.694 , 10.72 this was with just a drop of oil on the bottom points. the traction magnets have plenty of force but it was obvious tires needed to be glued and trued it also had slight tire rub on the body(should go away with truing the tire) I Think a 4 gear class just allowing magnet shim and truing of the stock tires would make for a close racing class.

Sam, what voltage do you run the bus on? We run the x-tractions on 13.8v and the fast ones are running in the 1.0's stock. Matt, this is on 25.6 volts with a 16' timed section. The two traction magnets slow it down quite a bit. IMO it has way too much downforce for a stock chassis. If this class allows braids then the traction magnets will be needed. If it is decided that we don't run braids then the traction magnets on these new AW's chassis will need to be removed. Scott, Since there are a bunch of old chassis floating around why not just make it a easy class to get into and run it on low volts with no modifications other than brushes and maybe tires (slip on silicone) and no extra traction magnets?

Thats perfect Sam, i totally agree. so will the old chassis be only chassis or will we allow the AW 4 gear?? But if not i like the idea of running NOS 4 gear chassis,Pre 1990 Funny Car Bodies,Silicon Slip On rear tires, and Braids on the pick ups,and you can replaced Brushes, everything else is to be stock, wheelie bars allowed as well. Also anyone have an idea on how to mount wheelie bars? please show on the forum how to do it,looking at the bottom of it iam not sure how??iam still a rookie,LOL So what does everyone think about these rules?

I'm up for a 4 Gear class. I only have one of the original AFX cars , but would be willing to buy a new one if need be. Also , I don't know where we can get slip on silicone tires for the 4 Gear cars. Those rear wheels are pretty big. But anyhow , yeah sure count me in.

Sam, i agree that we should run these at 13.8v. We run everything here at 13.8. the only time that we turn the voltage up to 25 is if we are getting cars ready to send to a proxy race. i think running at the lower voltage makes the racing more enjoyable. you can actually see the cars racing each other. another benefit of running at lower voltage is that slip-on tires work for every class. there's no need for sili-foam tires, which cuts the cost a bit. i haven't tried one of the AW 4 gears here but i'm sure that the traction mags will need to come out if we run them at 13.8.
Scottman, at 13.8 volts you really don't need wheelie bars or ballast on anything above the t-jets.
something to consider as far as the rules go is the armatures. i have 4 gear chassis with blue drag arms, mean green arms and some with the red arm. i didn't change the arms in any of them. that's the way they came.
i'll try to post some times for a couple of my 4 gears this weekend.
what does everyone think about running a non-points stocker race along with the F/C?
