I finally got a body on my AW chassis and made some runs. The best pass was a 1.241 and the slowest was a 1.287. These are fairly consistant runners. The body is an AFX cuda. I had to cut the front axle and the body mounts out. I glued in new body mounts and opened up the rear wheel wells. One other thing that I had to do was to narrow the front by cutting the back side of the front wheels. Now they are tucked up under the body.

where can we find diffrent 4Gear bodies? Autoworld makes the Grand Am body Aurora made a Vega, a Grand Am for the 4 gear and they made a pinto and a cuda for the standard chassis. I converted the Cuda body to the 4 gear with no trouble. Sam is making some F/C bodies that probably can be converted to the 4 gear. Scottman has a line on some bodies that a guy makes. Maybe he can post where he's getting his. 440

Just for fun, I tried the AW 4 gear at 25.6v with the cuda body and silicone tires.
The first run was with no traction mags and it spun the tires really bad but still ran a .927.
The second run I put 1 magnet back in the chassis, and it ran low .8's
For the third run, I put the second mag back in and it slowed down to high .8's
There was no front end hop, that I could see, on any of the passes.
I'm thinking on down the road, we could run these with a modern AutoWorld F/C body at the higher voltage and call it Top Fuel F/C. As easy as the magnets push in and out, this would make two classes for one chassis. Low voltage no magnets and higher voltage with magnet. It's just something to think about.

This is a very cool site. Another site which has tons of VERY early dragsters as well as many 70's Funny cars is wediditforlove.com Some picture caches are free and some for a nominal membership.
