Was staying out of it........ I believe the only chassis we race that shiming magnets constitutes air gaping is the X-traction. Hopefully BS rules will.be gone next season. Sorry, pet peeve ! If you really want to see a stock 4g jump......... use an engineers hammer ! Works for me. ........ Peter ..........not exactly sure what you're trying to say here. Shimming magnets in this respect is just taking up the slack so they don't move. Air gapping is removing material in the chassis to move the magnets closer to the armature? Don't see the BS you refer to. It's obvious that you do not care for the 4gear platform and that is fine. They are not the easiest chassis to work on and AW does not help this with poor quality. But that is what I like about them....the challenge. If it was easy everybody could do it. Who wants easy.......not me. Nothing to do with 4g, except joke........... You are ABSOLUTELY CORRECT ! .......... Shiming and gapping are two different things........ Yet x-traction Street rules treat both as same. Questioned use of shims when class started......... was told - my magnets fit so should yours ....... then no shims were added to rules for Street. Bogus reason for such a rule. Bugged me ever since. Sorry about any confusion........

I understand Peter. Missed that with the Street rules. These type issues should hopefully be resolved next year. Ends up my mags fit pretty tight on my N/FC cars anyway so no further testing needed. Can't seem to get them to wake up.

I am a newcomer to this group. I would like to suggest having an online sort of live chat, if possible, regarding questions on rules. or perhaps a specific thread. this should try to be accomplished in a reasonable amount of time previous to the first race that counts for points in the 2015 season. I am not throwing my hat into the competition ring as a regular, but I would like to find out everyone's opinions, concerns and suggestions to help NTRA move forward in a positive manner. I have seen too many organizations fall apart due to petty squabbling and don't want to see that here. for the most part I see folks getting along and sorting possible differences, but there seems an unspoken uneasiness that needs to be removed. I misinterpret posts sometimes because of lack of body language, or specific language indicating jest, and that can lead to discontent. Cordell/ninjatak has his hands full overseeing the site itself and shouldn't be required to be a referee or rules master. less is more, so let us see if we can simplify a few things with better, brief specific language to alleviate misunderstanding of rules.
I certainly had such an occasion at my premier race and i apologize for that. there were no violations, however, I had stated there were. no disqualifications took place but I might have made that mistake. I appreciate that not everyone has room for or pocketbook for professional type tracks and/or timing systems so it is a good thing that AW has produced a system that allows winners to be determined and starts to be fair.
OK, this is long winded enough and I have no wish to derail/hijack this thread. just speaking my mind at a provocation that I just discovered as a result of the recent posts.

I Like all the detail you have added to your track, sure looks good. I currently do not have the room for a nice setup like that as my track takes up a wall next to my pool table. I am thinking of building a separate removable table for pits, etc. My 4th bedroom might become a victim with its 22' wall if I could get all the other stuff out of there. I am starting to work on the cars for the race. It is a little embarrassing when a turtle can outrun the cars I am entering in the race but in all fairness he is a fast turtle. At least the snail did not outrun them but it was close.

Just recorded the slowest MPH ever with one of my entries. 2.5 mph and no it was not the snail it was one of my entries. My slowest T jet can run 7 mph. After some work I got it up to to 7.5 mph, now the race with the turtle is close. If I put a food in front of the Turtle he still has the edge.

I looked up the results from 2010 and I don't know if the rules are the same or these were being run at 50 volts but somebody ran 24 mph with one of the NPS, which is a pretty much stock T jet chassis, cars. Has something changed since then??

I looked up the results from 2010 . . . . somebody ran 24 mph with one of the NPS . . . Has something changed since then?? Can not say. Did not join till 2011. Looked up race and saw Rick V. as top qualifier. That is our host for finals. Did not find any references as to voltage. That event held at Psycho Slots Dragway which used two 12V deep cycle batteries as power supply. Voltage was probably around 26+ volts with unlimited current available.

Thanks Robert. N/PS is the one I really wanted to know. It's not posted in the rules that I could find. Hopefully Rick will see and answer before I have to send my cars.

Think voltage is same for both...... think 5ohm arms is where change comes....... could be wrong.
