Well here's my progress so far on trying to cast. Been conversing with Jeff via PM's and he has squared me away on a few things . Still tons to learn but am pretty jazzed to actually be trying to do it. The following photos are some of the steps. Don't think I'll have time to try casting resin into the mold today but certainly tomorrow .
A couple pics before pouring the mold.
Fresh out of the pressure pot. 60#'s for 24 hours.
Mold box removed.
Originals taken out of the mold.
I know, it's just blowers and a chute, but had to start somewhere .

I already learned something Gale. I've been doing my 1 part accessories the hard way. Why I have no idea. Things are clearer sometimes when you see someone else do it. The layout looks very familiar ! Great job so far man.

Thanks a bunch guys, appreciate the encouragement! Here's the first resin cast out of the mold. It's not perfect but I feel all are usable. No air bubbles that I can detect . I carefully swished around a toothpick down into the injector areas and was able to get a few air bubbles out right after pouring. I was gonna use these makeup sponges, that Jeff posted the tip about in his "Casting 101" to apply some mold release with but they seemed a tad too big to get in there comfortably so I probably over sprayed the mold release when I sprayed the mold but I wasn't wanting to take any chances . Might have lost a little bit of detail due to that. I'll spray less next pour . Anyways, here's those sponges I got at the dollar store. A buck for a package of 20.
Fun stuff, guys! I'm hooked on casting!

Pretty good for a first shot. Thanks Dave. I cast another unit this afternoon with a lot less release spray and it came out with a lot more detail . Trying to pay attention and learn as I go. Anxious to do a body .

Looking good GTS...!!! If you can pour or drip the resin into the mold at angle, that will help let the air get out also...RM

Depending on the curing time of the resin, pressure casting typically eliminates air bubbles. Do it all the time when I cast embedded pen turning blanks.

Thank You Jeff for your excellent tutorial! Cast my first body. The pictures are about 20 minutes out of the pressure pot. I'm thrilled with the results. The model was an old AFX 55 Chevy with a crushed top and broken posts. Fixed it best I could, filled in the hood and cast it with solid windows. To buy one off ebay is prohibitive for me . I'm jazzed with the results!
