Congratulations Mike, what a bargain that was. My system cost me 1000.00 with the extras I added and the support is bad. In the past I have called with no response many times. Eventually they will get back with an e mail after a few weeks but Trackmate is awful for support. Fortunately I have NOT had to contact them for a few years now. Just have to reload the disc when the system glitches once in awhile. Have fun with your new system.

You guys are sure having an adventure, good luck hope you get it sorted out. Having a track timing system is the best tuning tool you can have. I second that!

Sam, just checking in. Any progress? Is there anything I might be able to help with? Snowed here last night. I will be here most of the day, except for church, which they may cancel.

Not so much on the track side Mike. I have been learning more about arduino. Using the arduino environment/app i can get the ardinuo to do many different things. I have figured out how to make lights blink faster, slower. I can run a few different arduino sketches now. Just haven't figured out how to get race coordinator on it.
I have found were people are having a problem with the boot loader. This can only be corrected if you have a good arduino already.
I tried downloading boot loader to the programing and no luck. I really believe I ended up with the buyer beware arduino. Anyone following along that orders a board best advice is get the one that actually says arduino on it. The one I have only says mega 2560 and it is probably a knock off version.
I'm going to order a different arduino and try again. Im not in anyway disappointed it has been a very interesting learning experience.

Sam, the biggest problem i had was getting my laptop to recognize the arduino. It was because my laptop was a 32 bit windows 7 and the drivers would not install. The drivers are softwae that must be downloaded to the computer so it can recognize the arduino. The latest version of audrino software would not install the drivers. I had to use a adruino software version from a few years back. If you want I will see if i can find a link to it.

No good Mike. I tried all of them and nothing. I erased everything now I can't get the Rc sketch back to the arduino environment lmao. Not sure what I did...im resetting the computer and re-download everything. If it fails im going to wait for a different arduino. Maybe ill get a uno so Its the same as yours.

How's it going over there Mike?
I got mine going but im getting huge interference from the cars. Probably going to switch my wire out to the shielded stuff Gale used. I used some wire I already had.
The interference is just the cars running (not going over the sensors) is setting them off.
In the past I had gotten some trackmate parts. There were noise filters soldered under the track pieces were the sensors were. I yanked them off and stuck them between the rails at the start of the strip. To my surprise it cleared up a lot of the interference.
I'm going to add some ferrite rings coming out of the power supply and see what happens. Ill still change out the wire, but while we're experimenting let's see what we got.
I seen on the arduino site some different projects actually caused interference with the arduino. They ran a ground wire to pin25? (The reset pin).another fix was something with pickups. Same lines as the grounding wire. Im not messing with that ha ha ha. I had a hard enough time getting it to work. Don't anyone even look at that reset button lmaooooo...

When i had the system using the stop watch, i had a lot of rf interference. My track was in a smaller room and my wiring ran parallel to the track. Where my track is located now, i am using twisted wire that we had left over from our alarm system at work. The laptop and adruino are about 8 feet from the track. No problems so far. But i plan to move the electronics close to the starting line. When i had rf problems with the other system, it appeared to be from the pickups sparking on the rails.
