I am thinking about getting a car ready for the stock class (baby steps). What kind of E.T.s should I be shooting for to be competitive? Keeping in mind I only have a scale 1/8 mile to practice with. Thanks!

You can forget baby steps ,you built the track its on now.
I think to get you started we need to ask some questions.
What kind of tools you got ? Press , pullers, some kind of digital scale to read magnets (harbor freight $8) solder set.
Can you solder yet?
Are you comfortable changing the armature on the top plate?
Do you have a parts pile? Different gears or different size crown gears. Different tires, rims , shoes.ext Even small magnets.
Are you good with checking the chassie to see if the holes and chassie are in square?
Checking axle holes for wobble and filling with glue or something if needed?
And many more questions lol...
Every one here is full of years of information to share and help you out. Sometimes it can turn into a whirlwind on a new player. If we got a better feel where your at the better we can help.
Personally I think autoworld is the harder brand a new person can jump into. They have alot of flaws. Sometimes I go through 4 chassis looking for parts for 1. Don't let that discourage you , will get through it.
My vote on the chevy is tjet gasser. Going to need a mean green armature for that. Skillet

Hello LHP, Some of us have only been around for a few months. The first few lessons for me were what T-jet tools to buy? I was only breaking/bending parts without them. Starting from the top row left. 1) RT HO wheel press (on). 2) RT HO top plate gear press (on). 3) RT HO idler post expander. 4) RT HO top plate gear press (off) The gold thing is an axle/top plate hole peening tool from Wizzard High Performance. The purple thing is a Lucky Bob's wheel press (off) You're in good hands with Skillet guiding you. He helped me very much. Thanks again, Sam! Ken

Hi Steve, RT-HO is Ricky Terry. His T-jet tools are one of the best on the market. rt-ho.com/tools.htmlI bought my tools from Wizzard High Performance because they ship to Canada. wizzardho.com/t-jet/tools/These tools are often out of stock. You need to watch the sites for when they are back in stock, and don't delay when they are. Cheers, Ken

This is the scale I use from harbor freight. It originally had a metal cover over the weighing deck. It was held on by wanna be glue ,came right off. After that I used two strips of track rail and glued on the weighing deck same distance apart as the track. This allows me to measure down force of total car and individual magnets. Later down the road will make holes and boxes to measure spring/shoe tension. Been meaning to do that for awhile.

The lid has a slight bump out on it. I use that to put my magnets up against so they should be dang near the same spot when I measure.
