Steve you getting that thing ready for this race? Go with some bigger tires, orings in the front. Add some shunts and braid and ship it. See what times it gets and will mess around when it gets back.

Thanks for the link that helps. I want to get competitive in the stock class and then kind of move up a class.

Glad that is the info you're looking for. In my opinion, if you're leaving it "stock" for a stock class, I wouldn't worry about getting the top plate press thing. All you need is one of the cheap Tjet pinion pullers that are less than $20. If that is a new Autoworld car, first thing I'd do is take the body off and clean all the grease out the AW puts in there, then tighten the brush springs a bit and see what she does.

Copy that Steve. I wanted to make sure it wasn't for this race.

The lid has a slight bump out on it. I use that to put my magnets up against so they should be dang near the same spot when I measure. This is exactly how I've been doing it for years. It allows me to separate magnets by strength and match them up as well. Extremely useful in tuning. Gauss meters are expensive. This method is $10.

AW 57 Chevy bel air 50s and Fins collection. Pancake motor. Seems good, but being as I have no idea what I am doing I am open to suggestions. Your chassis looks like an AW Thunderjet. Here are the 16 Qualifier ET's from the 2019 event I ran. Track is Max Trax, 30v/10a power supply (each lane), run on a switch @ 14v.
Tjet Stock Qualifying order 2019 Winter Nationals @ 14v

Concerning that digital scale for measuring magnets, here is a link to the HF item. About 15 or so years ago there were a lot of "how to's" all over the internet on how to set these up. It's pretty easy and they work great. It is important to always place the magnets you're measuring in precisely the same spot so as to get a respectable reference.

Yep, I like what Sam did w/glueing the track rails to the platform. Looked for some you tubes, but they must be pretty old. Will look again tomorrow. Thanks

Thanks GTS that's the exact scale.
Don't worry about YouTube Steve you got Nitro Slots. pick up one of those scales or something close to it. The scales come with a cover. Just make sure the scale you get has a clear cover.

The only stock pancake record I could find for my track was for one run at 18 volts.
14 ohm 18 volts - .9637 14.29
There have been many classes run like this over the years.
The Cars I just sent to Jeff's race were quicker than that track record but I tested them at 20 volts. One ran .82 @ 18 MPH and the other ran .84 @ 17 MPH, these should be contenders for TQ. Takes a bit of work to get 14 ohm cars to run that quick and fast as most stockers with run in the 1.5-2.0 range even at 20 volts. MPH is generally 8-12 MPH. Don't get discouraged as it takes time to learn what to do and a lot of testing to see what works and what does not.

If I go by the NTRA rules as posted, motor can not be less than 14.0 ohms, weight at 21g and track voltage is suggested at 13.8v. I am seeing voltage at 14, 18 & 20. Should I work on getting the car as fast as I can at 14 and if the voltage is higher it will just be faster, yes? One other question, are you guys running on a scale 1/4 mile or scale 1000ft? My track is scale 1/8 mile. It's all the room I had.

LHiP,
On my track 15'6" Tyco track, 18 volts 30 amp power supply. A well tuned AW car, no braid, no traction magnet,.345" rear tires 1.020's.
1/8 should be great, it seems most here run 15'7" (scale 1000ft)
