Some projects on my bench

Now the rear is where I want it. Can't get much, if any, lower without trimming the rear deck. Glass is trimmed front and rear, and the bumpers got a coat of Molotow chrome.

I'm working on the next Nova now. I like to have pairs of similar cars.

Henry J is out of paint jail finally. It turned out OK for a basic scuff and shoot.

I was torn on what to do with the decals. My choice was to print on white decal paper and have a border and background with crisper colors, or print on clear and have a little bleed through. I don't trust my printer to hit the exact same spot if I run the paper through again, especially on something this small.

Another little side project. This poor Mako and a Ford GT came to me directly from the Tammy Faye School of Cosmetics. They were rough, to put it mildly. The Mako cleaned up nicely, but the GT? Well, I think they were going for some extra credit in prep work. She's still soaking in the stripper. Back to the Mako. Screw posts and wheel wells are intact, but the glass was a wreck, one A pillar missing and the other broken. I was able to wet sand and buff the glass to some semblance of clarity, but I don't have a hunk of butternut yellow styrene to make a batch of goop for the A pillars. Removed what was left of the one pillar and carefully masked and painted the edges of the glass to look like pillars to hold me over until I get the material for goop. It will live to run laps again, most likely on a Tuff Ones or similar chassis.

I've been exploring around the site a bit, and was reading Skillets thread until my phone kinda stopped letting me scroll through. I'll definitely be looking more at the custom work there. I have done a little "goop" work on a couple of Vegas to get rid of AW's goofy scoop. I wanted some factory looking hoods since I was building a couple of cars that I've owned in the past. On one I used a portion of a 63 Corvette hood that I cut out of a wreck, and the other I used a hood from a 64 Corvette. Cutting, trimming, filing, sanding, filling, and more sanding. I knew they were going to be painted, so I didn't worry about color match. The notch in the hood section was to locate it on the front post while I was fitting the other 3 sides.

And the finished products with Vincent wheels and even tiny license plates that match what I had on the cars back then. The Orange is a 74 GT that was my first car. The black is a 75 Cosworth Vega. The CV usually has gold wheels, but mine were bead blasted and I never got around to painting them.

Excellent work on the Vega.  Enjoyed seeing the step by step process.
