It's been soaking in easy off for about 4-5 days. Soak, scrub, scrape, rinse and repeat. Someone at the TFSoC went for a little extra credit on prep work with what appears to be 80 grit sand paper. The easy-off met its match in this one. The Mako came out clean as a whistle.

Sorry... grabbed the wrong Pic of the top. The other Pic of the top was while I was still soaking and scrubbing. This one is what's left after all of that. The stuff embedded in the deep scratches.

That just reminded me of a gt I did once... it looked like someone had a grinder on it. Bill model murdering had been telling me about airbrushing goop on to make custom colors at the time. I decided to thin out some goop and just paint it on with a brush. I made a candy corn gt it was pretty neat and smooth. I'll see if I can find some pictures of it.
How could I forget about that!

More progress on the GT. I finished up the white base a day or two ago, and sprayed the pearl white last night. I'm not completely happy with the scribed body lines on top, but it will do as a learning experience. I will still be doing a blue rocker stripe and then clear. Still deciding on the shade of blue.

The finished product... Rocker stripe is a water slide decal buried under clear. She's not perfect, but it's a far cry better than when I got it. Should be a good runner.

Nice work Dave. Mako's are worth saving. IF you can do it.

Yup. I've liked them since I saw one on big biddum, but wasn't willing to pay the popularity tax for a really nice one. A little patience paid off. Now if I can just push a little of that patience to other areas...
