Copper tape would make a great conductor but there would be no magnetic downforce. 7/64 is the size for the top of the photocell. I drilled the bottom slightly to 1/8 to accommodate the bottom of the sensor which is slightly bigger. There are only 2 wires for each sensor. You just have to wire the right ones to the start and finish and L-R. I believe there is a polarity to the photocell, anode and cathode. Al says he has them available.

Dave that's true, I'm not much of a magnet person. This track is going to be an experiment to see how it goes. As far as I know this will be the only wood track in the NTRA to race on (if it works out). I'm thinking about trying magnetic paint though for the track surface. Thanks for the hole size, that helps a a lot.
Peter, the blade is an Irwin for finish work on plywood and softwoods. Thin kerf, cut a1/16" slot in the MDF. Perfect for HO slotcars.

I believe it is. Sherwin Williams has it I think. Home Depot and Lowes probably do too. I'll get it checked out. I don't do much painting in my work. That's something I try to avoid. LOL.

Ok here's a question. Should I put something under the copper tape to create a raised "rail" or just leave the tape flat? I was thinking of maybe using fishing line with the tape over the top. Just looking for some opnions, ideas.

I made a jig to install brush barrels in a SG+ with a Decosmo T bulk head. Came out pretty good. Will post pics soon and do a write up of how I did it. Be patient I'm old and slow.

Just looking for some opnions, ideas. I've been waiting to hear how paint worked out. If not for magnetic purposes. I would think it best to lay tape flat. Get a larger contact area for any shoe or braid.

I haven't really been able to do much on the track lately what with the holidays and looking for a part time job. I did get started on the bleacher kit. This one will be placed near the finish line. I'm going to use it as a pattern for a larger one that will be near the starting line. There's plenty of work to do, paint will come after the first of the year.

Interesting. I wonder if that would work on one of my BSRT chassis. I know the armature is different and would have to be changed but it seems like it might work.

Conversion I did , was a G3. Use it in MM/ps. Is quicker of the two MM/PS cars I have. Personally , I would not do this conversion on anything less than a G3. Or maybe a Viper now , but have not seen one yet. Had four G type chassis from Tomy. Everyone of them broke. One in half ! And that was before thinking of putting 3 ohm arms in. Have about half dozen G3's now, never any such problems with them. This with various build types.
