I made a jig to install brush barrels in a SG+ with a Decosmo T bulk head. Came out pretty good. Will post pics soon and do a write up of how I did it. Be patient I'm old and slow. Trying to figure how jig works........ was thinking of molding side of DeCosmo then casting and putting brass bushing in for keeping bit from trying to wander. ......... Peter

The G3s I have so far have been excellent. Only trouble we have had is with the one that was grinding the tires when it hit the wall going backwards. That one needs a new armature but it was not the cars fault. Seems a little Gremlin got in there and messed things up.

Interesting. I wonder if that would work on one of my BSRT chassis. I know the armature is different and would have to be changed but it seems like it might work. Since the G3 and Viper chassis are improved versions of the SG+ it should work. Most parts are interchangeable. I will try it in both chassis and let every one know.

I would be hesitant to use SG because of weak chassis. Would not be worth trouble if not long lasting.

Tomy changed the plastic material to a more durable plastic later in production. They were a grey. Here is a post from another forum. The new "grey" chassis are above & beyond compared to the brittle black ones.I replaced 12 with the BSRT chassis. When i bought my Super International set i was pleasantly surprised to see the SG+ cars had the new chassis.

Ok here's a question. Should I put something under the copper tape to create a raised "rail" or just leave the tape flat? I was thinking of maybe using fishing line with the tape over the top. Just looking for some opnions, ideas. Interesting question. I would think that you would need to raise them a little for stock pick up shoes but if you were to run braids on your pick up shoes, I think you'd be alright leaving the tape flat. Let us know what you find out.

I have seen some videos of fray style t-jets racing on custom road course tracks using just copper tape on the flat surface without braids on the pick up shoes and they didn't seem to have any trouble getting around. I saw this on YouTube.

Don't think it would be a problem....... considering all the cars whose front wheels barely or don't touch the track. ....... Peter

Copper is a much better conductor than steel and should work well. The only problem I see is traction. Magnets will not have any effect and you will be at a big traction loss with higher powered cars. If you could lay some steel down before you put the copper in you would have the best of both worlds.

I think I'll put the tape on flat for now, if it doesn't work out I can go back and lay down something to create a rail and then tape over it. I'm not too worried about the magnetic down force. The classes that I enjoy the most don't really need them. This just adds a different challenge to the fun.
