Sorry for the late response GTS... I usually just leave the body in overnight...It's also good to dunk a raw resin body in Purple Power overnight, helps get rid of the silicone from the mold... With every cast, you'll learn something new... You doing pretty dang good for your first attempt...!!!RM Thanks Randy, I found that out. I left it in overnight and it worked great! I'll be doing that with the raw resin bodies too, thanks. Yeah, I really made some blunders makin' the mold for the glass. I was able to salvage the mold with an exacto knife though . Hopefully I'll learn from that one . Thanks again for all the encouragement and tips! Appreciate it!
Been busy with the race I have lost touch with this thread so I'm getting caught up. Awesome stuff Gale! The learning curve for the fundamentals is pretty quick. It's all about doing the same thing and not missing anything. The Nash turned out great! I am most certainly looking forward to seeing more! So the Purple Power won't hurt the body if left soaking overnight to help with silicone removal? I just want to make sure before I try it. I am having so much trouble with fisheye in my clearcoat that I'm going to back up and reassess everything from the beginning.

Jeff: I haven't tried painting yet but for me the "Purple Power" did not soften the resin in any way that I could tell. I'm sure Randy could tell more.

I wanted to make sure that I understood what Randy said correctly so if you tried it that's good enough for me. Randy's tips are "golden"!! I am going to do an experimental project and change a couple of things starting with soaking the body in the Purp Pow solution. I have to figure this out. I want to get back to the two part urethane clear coats. Any ideas what your next casting project is going to be? Are you going to be doing a custom painted Nash soon? Thanks.

I plan on painting up one of the Nash's soon. Don't know how custom it will be , but if it's close to what my standards are, I'll be using it as a new 4GO body. The Nash is 4 to 5 grams lighter than the present VooDoo Child (and still legal) so hoping that will help a little on performance .
Next casting project; I really want to get going on a 53 Studebaker Slammer. I have 3 differently configured die cast of said 53' and I like parts of them all. Trying to figure easiest way to get it all into one body with out making a mold of each, might have to make 2 molds . Another one would be a slammed 33 Willys coupe. I might set that one up for one of Eagle's chassis because of the narrow hood & grille, we'll see. The list goes on and on .

Alpink sent one to the race. Very very cool body that you don't see very often. I will want a couple when done please. Put me on the list. This might be one of those times where working with the die cast might be the thing to do. Both of my trucks were done working with the metal. The '62 C10 the front was resin and the bed was die cast. I had to do a lot to it. The'52 Chevy truck was all die cast work. The extra time and effort working with the metal far offset the time to do the prep and separate molds required. I hate wasting material and those "parts" molds are obsolete once the Master is done. Unless it's a complete stock body that can be cast as such. Blah blah...I hope that made sense??

Hey guys... Yea soaking the body in Purple Power will not hurt the resin. I have left bodies in it for days with no problems...I even put raw bodies in it overnight to try and drive out the silicone. Jeff are you using a spray silicone release on your molds??? If so, you need to spray them outside or right at your exhaust fan. I was painting some bodies, they were looking good. I had the bright idea to multitask, so I sprayed some silicone on my mold in the door way which I thought was away from everything. The fan pulled the fumes right into my painted bodies, screwed em all up with fisheyes...!!!

Next casting project; a 64' Nova 4dr wagon. Fits an AW 4 gear chassis. Should be fun . I didn't take any pics of dis-assembly or the stripping process. This is where it's at presently.
I'll post progress pics as it comes along.

Looks like a good candidate. That engine looks like it may have some casting potential.
